Got photos of the body finish and the choice of pickguards. I will post shortly. Had to install a Seymour Duncan Cool Rails in the middle position (Antiquity is in my other strat build)

A poly is what supposedly clutters the pores of the wood changing the tonal characteristics. A lot of guitarists actually remove finishes to allow the wood to age unimpeded and let the guitar wood breathe. Not sure about nitrocellulose, bur I believe that component of finish impedes wood at a cellular level also. In some ways, my oiled guitars seem to outplay my Les Paul Supreme as far as tone goes.

I strongly doubt the ability of anyone here to discern a difference between finishes in an amplified guitar.

Hey all. Another update. Damn, I swapped out ALL of the Antiquities out of that pickguard and used the Antiquities in my brass top slide guitar. Pickups I will be using is as follows: Neck Seymour Duncan Stacked P90, middle Cool Rails and bridge Stacked Vintage Tele. Sorry, I should have inspected my pickguard and I totally forgot that I turned my special slide guitar into a tone monster. The middle pickup in my brass top slide guitar is a PRail.

I tried to upload the photos and I am having issues. The strat is finished except for a few minor details. Played it and it sounds incredible.

Thanks, but I do not have a Facebook account. My wife is not good with that. I have posted photos before, so I am unsure what is wrong now.

On your Photobucket page just click on the "IMG code" link to the right of the image, this will copy it to the clipboard automatically, then just paste that directly into your post.

Thanks RaSTus, I need some practice it seems. The grain on the body is cool and I like how it matches well wth the copper pickguard. This thing has good spank like a strat and some twang if you want it. I like a tele pickup and P90 in a strat.

Love the idea of a P-90 in the neck. That's gonna be a fun guitar to play, no doubt.

It's an interesting finish. I think it would look better if there was more contrast between the body and the pickguard. As it is, it all blends in together too much for my taste. I'd probably go with a black pickguard myself.

Cool stuff, bud.

Thanks guys. This guitar does what it is intended and that is cover many tones as the different pickups allow and combinations thereof.

You know how Eric Clapton plays a Strat but it doesn't sound like a Strat? I believe my approach is better. I always liked Clapton's tone better when he played his' Gibsons. It's okay that he prefers a Stratocaster but why not use the type of pickups that would give him the tone instead of Strat pickups and active circuitry or additional tone shaping? Anyway, I wanted to maintain the Strat tones as well as Tele tones and the vintage P90 stuffs afforded by my pickup designations.
