I was just doing some work on my Gibson and made a mistake and have snapped the earth wire that goes from the volume pot through the guitar and to the tail piece or bridge. Im not sure which it actualy goes to.
Can I buy any replacement wire if so from where and also is it just a case of putting a new bit of wire through the same hole long enough that it pokes out the other end.
Does it just sit in the other end loose or is it attached to anything?

Is there enough left you can solder an extension on it. If not you will have to replace it. The other end is pressed between the tail piece bushing and the body of the guitar. You'll have to remove the bushing to replace it.

Any similar wire would work, 22 gauge I believe.

In the end as long as the signal gets grounded it will be fine. Congrats on getting it fixed.
