How (un)common are braz boards on Fender guitars?
Compared to Gibson? Do they go for the same premium prices as the braz Gibsons?

Did the sixties Fenders not use Brazilian?

No, cuz with Fenders, tone is in the fingers.
With Gibbys, it's in the fretboard, bridge, tailpiece and studs, etc, etc... :naughty:

How about custom shop strats. Is it an option? Has it been an option?
Imagine I see a custom shop strat from the 2000's with a braz board, is it at all possible or does it mean something fishy is going on?

Not talking about vintage here. Say 1980's and later

I played a 1962 relic strat with a braz board about 10 years ago....olympic white with a tortoise pickguard. Can‘t say anything bad about any US made Fender I ever laid my hands on (in comparison to the legions of gibson turds I encountered).

Fender did make Custom Shop Reissues with Braz fretboards, which stopped about 10 years ago iirc.

The first number of years of Wildwood 10 strats and teles had Brazilian boards. I believe thru 2010.

I wonder what a rosewood Tele neck with a Braz board would cost...
Maybe rosewood with ebony would be cheaper.

Best bet if you want a Strat with Braz is to buy a fretboard blank for $150 and send it to one of the aftermarket manufacturers to incorporate into a neck build. Fender won't do that. Musikraft has Braz and offers it as an option, but it's much more $ than buying your own blank and sending it in to them.

That's what I did on my "dream Strat" build, which will hopefully be done in another week or two.
