Anyone see this ? A bit unusual , a mix of two different Gibson designs. I can't really decide on it's a cool look or not , but the sound is Okay!

Gibson "Bona-Bird"

Perhaps his most oddball guitar, the "Bona-bird" was commissioned by Bonamassa because he dug Firebirds but they tended to be neck heavy. It combines a reverse Firebird neck with a Les Paul body with just a single humbucker in the bridge. He says, "The jury's a bit out on the aesthetic of it, but I actually dig it." The guitar has an angry, growling tone. Bonamassa used the guitar, capoed at the second fret for singing, on “Slow Train.”

A bit of Bonamassa here with some 'normal' headstocks.

That's crazy! I've seen a FB with a LP headstock, but never the other way around!

With that rimburst it kind of reminds me of Epi's Nighthawk. I'm digging the headstock on it though :dude:

Firebird with LP headstock I have never seen. LZF do you know how many existed of those ?

I read somewhere that Johnny Winter had one, but never see any pics of it.

Got me into a bit of googlin now, so found this pic but not totally sure if it's a Les Paul headstock there (?)

Something I've noticed with joe that hardly any guitarist have these days. He actually knows how to talk during interviews. I dont think I've ever heard him say "um" or "you know" at all. Another thing I've noticed is that he is a huge fan and not afraid to admit it. His guitars have their "this is my insert guitarist name here moment" and I have to say I like that and he rips licks from clapton's early days alot. There's also alot of eric johnson's licks in his style as well. Now I wish I would have gone to his show a few months back.:( Rock on Joe!!!

It's a strange one to see, and it looks kinda cool, but then you want the 'normal' headstock to be there.

+1 on his chops - he's a great player for sure.

Sorry, but I'm completely repulsed by regular LPs with just a bridge pickup.

For some reason, what works on a Junior just doesn't fly on a regular Les Paul, at least not for me.
