Just listened to some clips..it sounded pretty great! That has some hardcore distortion for a tube amp! Seems like a cool amp.

Maybe it's just me, but it still sounds like a Spider, not a true tube amp. I'd have to hear one live. PC probably doesn't do it justice. My Spider is OK for a practice amp, but like ArchEtech said, you get weird buzzy sounds sometimes.

I know what you mean. One day, my spider II just blew up.. Now and ever since, the lights flash really dim, and when played for more then 1 minutes, the lights turn off and I can only use the clean channel. Oddly, when I do have it on the clean channel, every few minutes all of the amps effects turn on. Line 6 tech support is shit. Lucky I had a guitar center warranty. They gave me $200 without having to see the amp. Just saying as I have not known anyone else with the same problem. Ofcourse the $200 helped me buy my Blues Deluxe! :thumb::thumb:

The effects alone would be worth getting the amp for... I bet this will be cool, but I am hesitant to jump on the first generation. I'd wait until all teh bugs were worked out... Thi smay be worth getting to jam at ultra low volumes for those of us that do not have a basement.....

I was just in Herried buying strings the other day and they had a bunch of them. Some guy was noodling on one, but I didn't hang around long.

:fingersx:There is a way to bypass the Pod part of the amp
so its a straight Tube Amp
If you have a tube preamp (i have a three tube Seymour Duncan one)
you can plug right into the amp stage

Power Amp In – This is a direct connection to the all-tube power amp, including the 12AX7 preamp tubes, matched 6L6 power amp tubes, Master, and Presence controls. Perfect for pairing your Bogner designed all tube power amp section with a front end modeler such as the POD® xt Live.

But why go through all that trouble:mad:

F' it

You really gotta play em loud *it is a tube amp* to appreciate the tones.

The models are still pretty much Spider fare, but with the tubes behind them, it actually sounds respectable. You gotta lay off the high gain though... Line 6 high gain is worse than almost anything else I've heard.

Yea, high gain is fine at low volumes for sitting around
playing but not when you want to really get some volume
then it just turns into that crappy bees buzzing sound
thats why i use chanel A in my 900 and not the highgain channel.

Is yours an SLX? I've been gassing for a 900 for a little while now... but I think I just satisfied my amp needs... I'm gonna go post a new thread about it.. :D

Its a 97' 100W Hi Gain Dual Reverb model 4100, great amp but
dont like the hi gain channel unless you are turned up pretty loud
but then it sounds great for leads. You do need to add an eq to the
loop for sub lows.

I love the Dual Reverb. I came within 3 inches of buying one on Friday. Nabbed a MKIV instead, just because I got a ridiculous deal on it.

The MK 3 900's sound good too, not as high gain as the Dual Reverb or the SLX *which is a gain monster*.

My only complain is the lack of an actual 'clean' channel... but you don't buy a Marshall for its cleans!

Yea i like them alot to!
I have an 800 also but i get alot better gain from the 900.

Yea if they could ever manage to clean up a clean channel that
would be great, but it would have to be a seperate preamp probably.

I spent some time with one of these yesterday. It was the 2x12 version. To be honest it was cool, but made me appreciate my all tube amp that much more. The effects were fun to dial in, and they are way over the top. Especially the chorus / Flange feature. It was a jet airplane all the way.

Would I buy one? No, I will not be buying one but its a neat amp to play with.
