Ya never know ... sometimes things click later.

Plus ... who knows what failure now might mean ... maybe no chance at next year.

Kids with parents that care .. at least have that going for them.

One of the accounts I read said that some cops were helping the parents.

These parents are obviously too ignorant to understand that, if their kid cannot pass the exam without help, they aren't going to succeed at the next level (education or work). Eventually their efforts will backfire.

And the kids will eventually become dysfunctional adults who have more kids and the cycle will continue.

What the fvck is wrong with people?
Get your shit together! Jeeeze. :slap:

If I recall correctly I heard that India has the highest rate of people with degrees but the majority of those people can hardly do basic math....or something like that

Good thing there was a caption beneath the picture...

One father, desperate to get his daughter to sit her exams, lashed her to his motorbike to make sure she got to school.

It could as easily have been:

One father, furious at his daughter for failing her exams, kills her and brings back the body for a shameful burial.

New Delhi (CNN)The quest to be educated in India has literally scaled new heights.

Images of parents and family members clambering up school buildings and clinging on window ledges to pass cheat sheets to their children have left authorities in despair.

The incident took place on Wednesday in the state of Bihar, where students were writing their year-end grade 10 examinations.

Examples of cheating incidents are not hard to find in India. But, even compared to previous events, this seems to be unprecedented in its blatancy.

Bihar Education Minister PK Shahi told reporters that children won't learn if they're constantly helped by family members. "Government can only hold fair examinations with the help of the parents, society and the children," he said. "This is a collective responsibility."

In a developing economy like India, education is a precious commodity.

With more than 1.2 billion people, proper schooling could hold the key for much of the population to get out of a vicious cycle of poverty.

The flaws in India's education system are well-documented. The country has a literacy rate of only 74%, compared to 95% in China. Women suffer particularly badly here; only 64% have formal education.

Earlier this year, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nationwide campaign urging parents to send their children, especially daughters, to school and properly educate them.

According to the United Nations, India has the largest youth population in the world, with more than a quarter of citizens aged between 10 and 24.

Dumb+Dumb=Dumber, a more fundamental law of the galaxy than 2+2=4.

The best thing a couple can do to increase the chances of producing a self-actualizing child is to pick a smarter mate. Cheaters just increase the pool of people without scruples, i.e., politicians.

Parents who care would make sure their kids were prepared, they wouldn't cheat for them. By your line of reasoning, it is acceptable for helicopter parents in the US to do their kid's homework for them.

Many of the universities in India and Pakistan are of incredibly low standards and their degrees aren't anywhere near as good as ours are.

When I was in my PhD program there was a guy from Pakistan in the Master's program in my department. He had applied for the PhD program and wasn't deemed to be qualified, but they admitted him to the M.A. program. In speaking to him I discovered that, in Pakistan, he had been awarded a B.A. after two years of study and a Master's after another two years of study. But here in Canada (and the US as well) those four total years of university would only earn one a B.A. so his Master's was nowhere near what ours are.

He said that his family were pissed that his previous degrees hadn't been recognized and that he hadn't been admitted to the PhD program but he said that he understood because his education simply wasn't up to our standards. He said it really hit home to him after about a month in the program that his four years of education in Pakistan, which had earned him their version of a Master's, was nowhere near as rigorous as even our honours B.A. (the four year B.A. required for admission to grad school) because the Canadian students were so much further ahead than he was and that he lacked not only knowledge that we considered basic, but also many of the academic skills that we took for granted should be acquired after four years of undergraduate study (both in general and specifically to do with our subject/field of study).

Actually it is men who should pick smart mates because intelligence is passed down from the mother, not the father.

I was thinking more of the grey area inbetween the 2 extremes ... but even in this extreme case it is still better than the parent who does nothing or even hurts their kids.

Yeah, in a perfect world everything is perfect. We don't live in that world.

We don't know the whole story. And if I was in that situation (thankfylly I am not), who knows what I'd do. Probably the same thing.

Here's a solution to that particular problem: Close and lock the windows! Close the shades or drapes!

That is, if that shack even has any of those.

You'd think "authorities" could at least untie all those lines tied onto the building they're using to aid in ascent.
