Gibson N-225-I played one back in February and dug it! Saw this one for about half off on AMS, my second happy deal with them.
The hand pinstriping and minimalist take on an old design
is what drew me to it in the first place. That's by Rick Harris from over to Mt. Juliet Tenn. So's this '32 rod.
I've played along with everything from Ozzy to the Allman Brothers. The P-90 reminds me very much of my '55 ES-225 and the Dirty Fingers is not misnamed
.The Thunk Factor on Rhythm is better than either of my LPs. The Lead setting is razor like on single coil and just brutal on full. Set the toggle in the middle, with the coil split, and the slightest movement of the tone knob seems to yield results, from snarling, barking mastiff to nightingale sweet and everything in between, in shocking clarity, even when smoky dark, you can hear every note. I could go on tour with this one and my SGJ and never need another electric. I haven't given 335 sounds much of go, but I'm betting they're in here, too.
Oh and AMS advertised a gigbag in the deal, but this is what I got:
Delivered in two days and I ordered on Thanksgiving day!
No complaints at all, here. I don't know what happens to all the whiners I read on other fora, but my new Gibson experience is super, for the second time! (Set up is good, intonation is smack dead on) I'm lovin' it.
