Bi-Comp - At the top of the list

I just got an email from Analogman that i'm at the top of the Bi-Comp list. I completely forgot that i added myself to the list along with the KoT some time ago.

Wondering if anyone has an impression of the pedal. They're pretty expensive ($275) and i have an OS clone that i made, but i've heard good things about them before.

I know that i have whatever amount of time to order one and i don't think these sell for a premium like the KoTs do.

Wondering what to do

I recently went through exactly the same thing!!

It is a tough choice because your right, they don't really sell for a premium. However, I bought and sold it and lost nothing. It is an awesome compressor but I am so married to my cs3 that I am done with compressors apparently!!

Big full sound compression on the Ross side with no weird pumping going on. The orange side is also fantastic and they stack very well.

I wanted chicken Pickens sounds first and foremost and the boss just gets it for that. The bi-comp did not allow me to play as fast, strange but that was my observation.

I tried not to buy it but it kept waking me up at night so I just decided to get it over with. It is second only to my CS3 for me. For 90% of folks out there the a-man would pulverize the cs3, so more my personal taste.

If you have the means, I would try it. It is impressive!!

But no hurry. Save the email. You are at the top of the list and get one whenever you want!!

I'm on the list for both another KOT and the Bi Comp... Dunno what I'll get first when my name comes up on both. I really want a hi gain both sides KOT right now.

I have a Bi-Comp and it's a great pedal. The Orange Squeezer side is definitely the more interesting part of it and sounds GREAT; I especially like it with single coil pickups through a clean or lightly overdriven amp - it's a beast! The Ross side is good too but much more subtle and I much prefer the Keeley Compressor for that trip. The Analogman Ross clone is more transparent than the Keeley and politely stays out of the way but that makes it less interesting, IMO; the Keeley adds something or other that just sounds/feels better to me than the AM Ross clone for most stuff I do.

If you want the Juicer and Ross clone in one pedal and want a Ross clone to be as transparent as possible, then the Bi-Comp is awesome. If you want the Juicer and a compressor with more personality, then I'd go for a separate Juicer and a Keeley. There's really no "better" here, just a matter of what you're into; I have the Bi-Comp Ross side when I want subtle compression and the Keeley when I want to make more of an impression.

The KoT is the tits! I have two of them - one for my live board that I use mostly as a boost to slam the front of my amp for heavier tones and one I keep at home as a straight ahead dirt box. It is my most useful and indispensable pedal.
