Best buys/value in Les Paul Offerings?

I currently own a 2001 LP Standard and a 2006 LP Custom and both are killer axes. I'm considering adding a 3rd LP to the collection. I've been considering another 2001 (or pre 02) because I'm partial to the "Rounded 50s" neck profile. I then noticed that the Traditionals are made with this neck profile as well. I owned one briefly and it was a great LP.

So, it got me thinking . . . before I pull the trigger, what are the best buys for LPs these days? Reissues? If so, which one? Traditionals? I've had my eyes on a Trad Plus. Any others?

Early Studios are a great bang for your buck. I've seen some early 90's Studio Lites like mine go for $600 US or less. Ebony board, light weight and kicks ass. I've been looking for another in blue for a while now.

+1

I have a 2001 Std that I won't part with - my favorite neck shape as well. I like grover tuners, and I am in the minority - I like the chrome hardware.

I also have found that recent production customs have necks that are very similar (at least the neck on my 2007 and others I've tried) to that of my 2001 Std.

If I was you, I'd look into buying a used 1999-2001 Std or a new custom.

2nd hand classics, you get all frills of a standard for a much lower price.

IMO the Trad Pro is the best bang for your buck.... but they have a 60s style neck.

Classic Antique. Not one of the funky colors or woods.

I was under the impresion that the non pro traditional has the 50s profile neck? I played one recently and I compared pretty close to the profile of a r8.

First post from a long time lurker. The Studio with the mahogany top in the faded brown finish is the best bang for the buck Gibson I've played. Burstbuckers and a nice hardshell for $799, plus the satin finish, 50's neck, brown stain and black plastics make it IMHO one of the most comfortable and classy guitars Gibson has ever made. If you have not tried one you should, the online pics don't do this instrument justice.

It's my understanding that the Trad Pro has a "60s" neck profile while the reg Traditional has the 50s "rounded" profile, which based on communications from Gibson, is close to a '59 profile.
