I've been trying to look for a good blues pedal and I've tried most of the typical ones like the boss blues driver, ts-9 etc. I like the ts-9 but sometimes it's a little bright and a little fuzzy when turned up.
I have a Keeley java boost, and it sounds awesome with my Marshall but not so much with my Fender champ. It's good for slightly overdriven tones but doesn't give that much dirt when I want it.

I always wanted to try the Marshall bluesbreaker but I've never seen one in person. Since it's only $65 I decided to order it online and give it a shot. I'm still waiting for it to come but I've heard some demo of it online. There's a video from Marshall and the tones the guy gets sounds amazing and is exactly what I want.

Can anyone confirm if the pedal actually sounds like this??
Also, if anybody has any suggestions I'm open. Money isn't a huge factor, I don't mind spending a bit to get something I really love.

Some good ones that come to my mind are:

Rockett Pedals Blue Note
Bogner Ecstasy Blue
Barber Gain Changer
Mad Professor Royal Blue or Sweet Honey OD

Keeler pull.
Fantastic low gain overdrive. Really adds a nice bit of fatness. Can also be used to help an amp already cooking to fatten up some more.

Stomp real hard on your other foot – channel the pain into your playing

Best part; it's free, cordless, and true bypass

That's my favorite genre and I have a Rivera Blues Shaman. Very nice pedal and very flexible.

Im gonna be that guy. Buy a Fuzz Face, crank it and slightly turn down your guitar knob.

Blues.

Overdrive pedals can sound radically different on different amps. Some can sound raspy. A inexpensive one to try is the Bad Monkey. If it sounds raspy on your amp you can use the direct out to smooth out the top end.

It depends on personal preferences, guitar, amp, etc. Bluesbreaker-style pedals are good, as are Fuzz Faces (I'd look at germanium or hybrid for more classic blues sounds). Other fuzzes and Rats can work. Also amp-style pedals, like Tweed, Supro, etc. Pedals that have nice edge-of-breakup tones can be very expressive with the blues. Clean works too, e.g., Duane Allman. The blues is versatile, you can use almost anything if you make it your own. As noted, pedals can sound quite different with different amps — as with different guitars.

As you'll find out soon enough, yes, that is what they sound like. I prefer it with the drive/gain down low. The boost channel sounds nice on it as well... :thumb:

I would need more info, blues can go from Lightnin Hopkins to Junior Kimbrough. What tone are you seeking in a pedal, and what amp are you pairing the pedal with?

For blues I usually set the drive super low (or zero) and play with the volume only. the higher the volume the higher the boost and it will overdrive with no "distorsion".
Not sure I explain myself.
There are great inexpensive pedals for this Boss SD-1, Bad Monkey are my favs. But difficult to know what is your taste, or what are you looking for exactly.

I couldn't live without my Rimrock Effects Mythical overdrive these days. I'm a little weird too - I like to put eh gain on full, and then control the gain and volume with my volume knob on the guitar, depending on what the song calls for. turning up the knobs will give me a touch more volume and grit for solos, and then turn it back down at the end to go back to rhythm. On some songs I can even use the two pickups different volume and just select between the two pickups for solo vs rhythm.

Yeah, everybody knows that when you buffer pain it loses its mojo...

There are other companies that do revised versions of the original BB to get all the bugs out. For $65 I am sure it will be fine but money goes father with used stuff and a modded Boss SD-1 could be something you keep forever and be in your price range.

I'm looking for something to sound like the JTM45.

I got the bluesbreaker II yesterday and tried it out. I like the style of tone of tone it's going for but it was very harsh and basically sounded like a solid state amp.

I love these two. Had the Bogner for a long time, fantastic pedal but a little $$$. I have the Blue Note now, fantastic, very versitile (tone shaping) pedal.

That is what I figured would happen. What amp is it going into? Can you return it and what is your budget?
