Sorry for your loss Steel. May god rest his soul and bring comfort to his family.

Kinda ironic I opened this thread just now as I am about to go get dressed and go to the wake/funeral/mass for my best friend Derek. We were buds since '84. Never drank, smoke, did drugs but got cancer last year and died a few days ago at 49 years old. We're all in shock right now.

All I can say right now to everyone reading this is...EMBRACE EVERY DAY YOU WAKE UP. Life is precious.......and life is short, even if you live to be a 100 years old.

Sending good vibes Steels way. Take care.

Sorry to hear you lost a pal at such a young age. I guess it's not something any of us
really think of much until we get up their in years. Losing someone when your younger
comes as more of a shock. RIP

Sorry for your loss, Cliff. :(

Sucks to lose a best/longtime friend at such a young age. Prayers go out to his remaining family.

I watched the video....wow! Great guitarist in his day. :dude:

God i feel bad for his son, he even changed his own FB site
to his dads name and put up all photos of him and his dad
jeez talk about rough. His kid idolized him and is an aspiring
young guitarist himself. Cant even imagine what he is going through.
Matt lost his dad in Korea when he was just a baby now his son
has to grow up without a dad also. Very sad

I usually stay away from these types of threads after expressing my condolences, but for whatever reason, Matt is on my mind.

I wish I had stopped by his company booth at NAMM, for one thing. I walked right by it...

But the thing I really wanted to express, was my admiration; after Matt had his fun with our man Coldsteal, playing in bands, and no doubt indulging in all the fun that comes with being a gigging musician...he grew up and decided to make some real money, for a change. :laugh2:

He could have gone into banking, or retail, or a variety of industries. Matt chose to stick with music, and became part of that vast network of people who spend their working hours coming up with various ways to support the efforts of musicians and music itself.

Badass ************, if you ask me. Thanks, Matt! :thumb:

I'm sorry man, my condolences.

I had this weird thought just today pop in to my head. I was helping a friend out with wrecking his second floor for some restorations to the bathroom and that sort of stuff and I suddenly thought man, chances are one of my friends, or me for that matter, dying is probably closer in years then us meeting years ago.
