Yeah, I think both my dog and I would be deader than door knobs in less than a minute.

Mine was bred to hunt large game but probably not grizzlies. I don't think grizzlies lived anywhere in the Roman Empire.

Yes, the Roman’s used them in arena battles. 200-300 years ago there were brown bears in Europe all over the place I think, I don’t know their exact distribution.

I wouldn’t save my idiot dog from a bear if it chose that fight. If my dog was saving me from the bear I’d thank him and visit his grave every year!

My dog bolted quicker than the flash when 3 black bears surprised us by popping their heads out of brush less than 4 feet away, I would be screwed

Crazy story

They're indeed very brave and lucky to be alive. No animal on earth can match the ferocity of a grizzly bear in kill mode.
That's not even the worst of it...

Sometimes they don't bother killing you before they start eating... and they prefer to start with the legs and your ass - the most meat. So dying takes a while.

" He's a two-time Utah high school state champion, etc, etc

The bear -- likely a mama grizzly -- struck him and knocked him 30 yards across the scraggly ground. She ran right alongside his tumbling body, clobbering him as he rolled."

I don't care how bad you are in high school.

I saw a bear run up a steep, brushy hill. Like it was nothing.

1,000 lbs charging up a hill.

Told me all I need to know.

Well, I tried to read it all but.....

In any case, Holy Crap!! If I'm ever in the same situation someone has a lot of guitars to get rid of because there's simply no way I'd make it back.

Reminds me of this.

Edit. I don't mean the story reminds me of this, just the "I don't care how bad you are in high school" comment because it's true. When nature wants to show you who's boss, not much is going to make a difference.
