It's funny you spell style....s....h....i.....t,

Cause without "style" you're just playing other people's shit.:cool2:

I don't know.....I'd say Clapton, Page, SRV.....they all had style and uniqueness without wanking off like Beck does. I'm sure he (Beck) is some sort of musical genius, but I don't listen to music and think "oh man, the way he went from that diminished 7th chord to that major 9th was just amazing". My ear is primitive, and to me, it just sounds shitty.

It's OK,....Beck is an acquired taste,...but if you heard some of the Buddy Guy stuff he does, it is pretty amazing. Beck is not all fusion, he can really pull off some very sensitive melodies using fewer notes than most. He isn't all rock n roll either......:D

Personally I think back in the early days the similarities between Beck, Clapton and Page were close. The first two Jeff Beck Group albums were pretty much blues based rock. But when the branching out started Beck went the fusion route....and some dont care for it. I'd bet he considers himself a composer ahead of anything at this point. Clapton stayed fairly grounded in the blues with enough POP to keep him on the charts, hence his popularity maintained across the generations.

Personally, I think the likes of Kossof, Mick Taylor, Duane, Dicky, Willy T, and more recently Derek and Warren put them all down. IMO Claptons best efforts had Allmans involved. :cool2:

And now thanks to this thread I'm gassing for a Duane Allman Sig. Thanks a bunch!

:cheers2:

Dylan is a great singer in my opinion. It is so very different but still great. Even his recent albums have great vocals on them.

In terms of guitar and soloing it will always be Clapton for me. I love his live sound and his way to construct solos. His dedication to the acoustic guitar is wonderful as well.

As far as players go I'll take Bloomfield, Buchanan, Hendrix, and Zappa over Clapton any day.

I like ECs playing a lot but I've never regarded him as groundbreaking.

And I agree, the best of ECs work was done with Duane. :420:

Strange that an artist proof would be sent with warranty card and COA. Being the owner of a "proof", mine came with nothing...as the purpose was to sign-off on the guitar.

Fortunately, I have saved copies of the Gibson website to show proof of this guitar, should I ever sell it.

It's my understanding that you just take old grainy pictures and tell people you were high but you're sure it had cigarette burns on it, that's the only way to identify your old guitar lol.

Even if it's a one off prototype, the price is still obscene. Normans has a beautiful 1960 Burst for the same price. If I was spending 32k, thats where it would go. :hmm:

Oh man, they have a Sunburst for 325k right now, too. I live down the street from them, I had to stop going in because I was just drooling and knowing I will never get anything of that sort.

Edit: My bad, I didn't see your correction before I posted. Yep, that's the one I mean! Norman's is something else.

Buchanan, for sure. I would add Moore, as well.
