OK So I can't find the first picture of the horrible, old, stained, falling apart drop ceiling photos....trust me, they were bad....

I ripped all that drop celling out of there, and set out to hang new 6" lighting cans...

Just finished the big stuff last weekend, and now I am piecing together my eclectic crap that my wife hates ....

And that ceiling is a bitch to paint black....holy shit...

What really freaked me out was the horrendous and dangerous way much of the electrical was done...I had to re-do nearly all of the wiring.

I routed the internet and cable in bundles and painted those flat black too.

Still cluttered though....

Nice job. I really like the black ceiling.

When I did the ceiling in my music room, "me and all my friends" hung the drywall. So, it was stained with my forehead sweat where I pinned it in place using my head.

Somewhere in the future, I will probably have to rip out 1,200 square feet of drop ('70/'80s) ceiling in my parents' basement) and do the same before we sell the house.

That’s what my brother in law said...

That’s only 1/3 of the basement, there’s a bedroom and laundry and the storage area...

It’s quite a project... I had to divide it into thirds with plastic drop sheets and paint one section at a time.... drips, missed spots, cantankerous spray gun ... respirator, face shield, gloves and somehow that paint gets everywhere !!

it’s still under my fingernails...

What spray gun did you use?

The one at harbor freight tools "Avanti " Its built well and works like a reverse vacuum (Blower) that siphons the paint.

Must be used at its lowest setting, or it gets everywhere.

I'm also in the process of re-doing my basement. Electric, plumbing, and gas is all done. Currently working on a bathroom shower. Next up, drywall and Hardieboard.

Sweet, you could stay down there for days!

How's the change affect the accoustics?

Yes, the room was pretty dead musically, it has opened up the reflections better with an acoustic guitar. Although I haven't done any recording yet....but the room is carpeted and still has a bunch of stuff in it.

But it is defiantly different.

This city never had a rule for "permit work" or inspections if the work was done inside.....I'm aware of surrounding cities being very strict.

This guy didn't know what he was doing.... or rather.... knew just enough to be dangerous.....

I fixed it.....Like a lot of other shit he screwed up around here ....with that said... We have been here 15 years and nothing "bad" has happened (knock on wood)

My dream is to one day own a home, and have a basement in that home.

It looks great man!
Dream big, you will one day ... own a home with a basement...

We are planning a move soon, I’m now looking for moderate acreage and a walkout basement, and a pole barn ...

Dream big, work hard, work smart and it shall be yours.
