Ken Rosenthal was fired by commish Rob Manfred. Bad news.

the venerable MLB insider is out at the league’s television network ostensibly over previous criticism of commissioner Rob Manfred.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Can confirm MLB Network has decided not to bring me back. I’m grateful for the more than 12 years I spent there, and my enduring friendships with on-air personalities, producers and staff. I always strove to maintain my journalistic integrity, and my work reflects that. 1/2

Nothing else is changing for me professionally. I am proud to remain part of the great teams at The Athletic and Fox Sports. 2/2

Manfred is the worst ever. Worse than Goodell in the NFL even. It would shock me none to see this season shortened or canceled.

I hope not cause the Brewers have themselves a little window here that they've never had before. I'm guessing they still can't get over the hump, but I'd like to see them try with their young rotation.

I was talking with several ex-MLB players last week . . . they seem to be as completely in-the-dark about the prospects of the upcoming MLB season as everyone else. The general consensus was that MLB baseball has become something of a joke.

Pro wrestling seems to have a stronger commissioner, better relationship between management and players and in general a stronger idea of what in the f*ck they are doing these days than baseball does.

Seriously - has any sport lost more interest since the 90s than baseball? First the strike in the early 90s - then they recovered strong only to have have the whole ‘roid thing. Then it just became even more of a game of have and have nots.

Seriously need a salary cap or some sort of equal playing field. Otherwise it will be the same 6 teams every year with a once a decade appearance by the small markets for brief runs until they lose all their cheap talent.

Oh yea - I will refuse to call them Guardians - just as I refuse to call it anything but Jacobs Field.

People still actually GAFF about baseball? The only sport that has fallen further is basketball.

Well - there’s a difference between baseball and their decline the last 30 or so years and pro basketball.

Fact is pro basketball really only became popular post 1980 with Magic/Bird and then Jordan. Baseball on the other hand was THE sport for Americans since 1900.

It’s kinda like NASCAR, Golf, Tennis and lately Soccer…all saw booms and eventually drops offs in the 90/2000s/80s/2010s respectively in the US.

Soccer/football anywhere that’s not the USA will always be number 1 worldwide - but basketball has picked up and is still gaining elsewhere. It’s just here - we have unique taste.

Hell - I’ll still take in some minor league games this season and still watch on TV - but going to a MLB game - pass. Watching in person is simply too costly. It cost the same for a couple of decent tickets from the team for what I can get a season of MLB package on tv for - which gives me every team out of market.

I don’t hate the sport - just the idiots who are ruining it - players and owners alike. No problem with a man saying “I want more” when some owner is willing to pay more - but the guys who act as of they are above taking 10-15 minutes pre game to stop out and sign autographs for kids are just ridiculous. FU and your “pre game prep” - it’s freaking baseball - it’s not like you need to do much more than a light warmup and your supposedly an athlete. Yea - some asshole might use his kid to get you to sign a ball and try to sell it for 70 bucks on eBay…but given your making a half million minimum a year now…you’ll be alright financially I think - even missing out on that additional revenue opportunity.

The Trenton Thunder play about 10 mins from home. Every now & then, we'll take the grand kiddies to see a game there. No traffic, free parking, cheap eats, great seats. A fun day in the sun, or a nice night under the stars for about $50, all in.

So that massive head and the unconfirmed 2003 positive test wasn't good enough?
