In short, boars are pigs. Domestic pigs released into the wild will take on drastically different appearances very shortly after.

Also, I once wrote an article, when I was very interested in Nuclear Energy and dispelling myths about Fukushima, that talked about the becquerel and why it’s use in describing radioactivity levels is implicitly designed to scare people.

30,000 becquerel per kilogram seems very intense but keep in mind that humans often have normal levels around 7,000 Bq, granite around 1000 Bq/kg and coffee around 1000 Bq/kg.

So walking around my kitchen with granite countertops and drinking g my freshly ground French press coffee exposes me to also at as much becquerels as the “mutant” pig “hybrids”.

Let’s not forget you get something like a 70 Million bequerel dose with an X-ray.

Sounds like pigs just living their best life to me.
I’m not very good at math, and I don’t drink coffee. How many kilograms of coffee do you drink in the morning? How much radiation does one actually receive standing next to a countertop?

Also is there cesium contamination in a cup of coffee? My understanding was eating something that’s been irradiated, as so many of our foods are these days, might likely be safer than eating cesium tainted pig meat?

Don’t get me wrong: Radiation is no joke and Fukushima was an ecological disaster but many aspects of it have also been highly sensationalized beyond what is important to know.

Becquerels are an odd unit of measure because it’s very small so things at normal levels, or even slightly elevated seem incredibly large.

It’s like saying, “I gave Bob 500 pennies.” Or I just gave him $5.

It’s bad, and I’m not trying to be a nuclear apologist by any stretch, but becquerels are a bad unit of measure because they naturally make things sound REAL bad.

There’s a reason articles like this use it.

My Uncle was a helicopter gunner in Nam. He says it was a great time. Ha! He said drugs were easy and great and he liked to shoot water buffalo from the helicopter.

My Dads uncle almost got him busted with the FBI for sending him packages of heroin from Nam lol..:laugh2:
