Hi, I was a member for a short time years ago. I have not been that happy with Les pauls in a very long time. Anyway glad to be back and glad to have found the best playing and sounding guitar I have ever owned. Yes, a Les Paul!
I have been playing Strats for a long time and I still like them very much. To make a long story short, Gibson came out in 2013 with the new Historics. A month a go I was in California at a big guitar shop, I saw they had a few used 2013 R9 Historic Les Paul Customs. They both were unbelievable! One was a made to look older R9 and the other was a gorgeous Cherryburst.
I bought the Cherryburst, they both sounded better than any Les Paul I have played since 1969 or 70. I have been looking for this sound since that time. The Cherryburst was just a tad brighter and ballsy, but it was really close. These CustomBuckers pickups are the stuff! best humbuckers I have ever had the pleasure to play. This is the only guitar I want to play now. Every position sounds great, the middle position is heaven! Great Jazzy sounds. This is now the best sounding and playing guitar I have ever owned. I will be glad to post some pics but don't know where would be the proper place to post them. Glad to be back.
