Here's the one I bought off Craigslist with HSC for $350.00 not a scratch on her...
One thing I'd like to add here for your Epi guys who are considering buying one of these or already have one and are considering modding it.
1st thing, regular 500k CTS or Gibson pots will NOT fit the holes, the Epi uses small diameter pots so the holes must be reamed about 2mm. Not a problem but you must be prepared to do so. I recommend a reamer but you could do it with a larger drill but be careful you could screw it up if you do it wrong.
2nd thing, the wiring is a nightmare in an Epi. Gut it all and put a new toggle switch in and also get some vintage style braided two conductor wire to run to the pots and jack.
Replace the pots with some good CTS type audio taper and get some PIO caps, either Luxe Bees or Sprague Vit. Q, etc. finally get a good set of pickups.
3rd thing. My Lindy Fralins have wide magnets much larger than the Epi magnets. When I tried to push the pickups in place with the covers they would not fit on the narrow width. It took a bit to figure out what the problem was but I soon saw the magnets hanging over the edge of the baseplate. This added width causes the covers to spread when mounted over the bobbin. It will not fit in the tight tolerance milled into the top. I thought, shit.... am I going to have to rout out the pickup slots a bit larger??? I wasn't prepared to do that. So I got a small sanding drum on my dremel and took some of the plastic off the inside of the covers, I ground down the long sides only from the bottom edge up to about 4mm from the bottom. This gave me just enough clearance to slip over the wider magnets on the Fralins and not cause the O.D. of the covers to be any wider than they are meant to be. After dremeling and a little scraping with a razor blade the pickups dropped right in and the covers went on nice and tight with no gaps where the wood and the covers meet. Just an FYI guys.
BTW_ I did put the pickguard back on after these shots were taken. Also, I took off the thick poker chip around the toggle (that sucker is held on with some serious sticky tape, take your time and it will come off), I had a Historic one that I added. Also when I installed the Jonesy pots I added some pointers I had laying around and also had a spare Historic amber switch tip.
I do love the Fralins, man they sound good. Almost as good as my R8 with OTP PAFs.
