Hi all,

I know this page is probably more for selling Les Paul style guitars, but it looks like some are putting their Fenders up too...

Below is a link and a couple of pics of a Fender Stratocaster American Standard - FOR SALE - this guitar is a beauty, with a nice set of recently acquired 1980's pick ups from a Tokia Fender replica and these are very nice sounding pups too.

Warrior Guitar Rick Derringer (PRS Killer) | eBay

Custom made in the US with all the trimmings Warrior Instrument are renowned for. This Rick Derringer model is constructed with 150 year old AAA GRADE mahogany and with an exotic aged myrtle top with not only flames, spalt but also Birdseye features in it. The neck is 3 piece aged mahogany with a mahogany tone bar toped off with a gaboon ebony fretboard and zebrawood block inlays!!

All this has then been soaked in Warriors exclusive Anointed Oil blend assuring no Compromise in tone due to a lacquered finish choking the sound.

This originally came with a set of lindy fralin noiseless pickups but after hearing them I decided to swap them out for the best set of P90's and single coils I have heard. The Blue Murder pickups were wound especially for this guitar and have been backed up with 2 Alessandro 250k pots worth over $100.

All up this guitar includes all certificates, TKL hardcase, warrior cable and orange oil for the body and fretboard.

Paid over $6500 for this under 12 months ago.

Here I have an one month old epiphone les paul for sale. Hoping to get $500 out of it with all the upgrades I've installed. price is negotiable, just shoot me an offer.

Basically other then the body everything else is upgraded:
-The pickups are Gibson burstbucker 1 and 2 (add $150 for the set, or I can install the stock pickups for you.)
-The pots and wires are upgraded (threw out all the chinese junk)
-The bridge saddle is upgraded to Gotch gibson style ones (intonates perfectly)
-The strap buttons are upgraded to Schaeller strap locks (in black)
-The fingerboard is done up with original creative cuts "vine of life" vinyl inlays
-The knobs are upgraded to sliver tophats with peal

I had over a thousand dollars invested in this guitar in fact the burstbuckers alone cost 180 each, you will certainly fall in love with it as soon as u play it !

Welcome to come and have a look at it and try it out. Its a really sweet guitar. In fact its as good as any epiphone is ever gonna get.

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone here has bought off ebay USA and had it shipped to AUS.
I'm keen as for a LP Deluxe on The Bat at the moment, but want to know if there are any customs holdups/charges i should know about.
Anyone got some advice?

Thanks

do not let them ship it via fedex/dhl/ups.they are private commercial carriers and subject to a different customs/quarantine inspection process whereby they will crawl up your ass and set up camp like a backpacker in a beach carpark making a complete nuisance of themselves requesting this that & the other type of proof & paperwork all the while smiling while they bill you $120 in customs/quarantine fees. That fee's just for opening it by the way.

Now if they ship USPS/EMS/POST ect it goes through a different channel and like on TV customs only gets involved when there's a problem.Your box'll be x-rayed for prohibited stuff & if all's well it's directed onto the sorting pile.
regardless of cost there's a 50/50 chance you'll be hit for the 10% GST.It'd be smart to have that cash ready if needed but yeah I've never been tapped for that 10% GST only the 3 times something was sent (without my knowledge) by fedex.

This source is from customs & quarantine after my last shitfight with em a few weeks ago.

Sheffo, just one caveat on what slapshot says, it will depend on the dimensions of the package as to whether the seller in the States can ship it via USPS. Late last year I bought a high-end PRS from the States, and as it was in a flight case, it exceeded the dimensions for it to shipped via USPS and had to come via FedEx. It took about 9 days to clear, but there was a slight delay due to Customs wanting a more detailed description than "Musical Instrument" on the shipping documents. So get the seller to say "Electric guitar" or something similarly more descriptive. Also get the seller to make some declaration that the guitar was fully manufactured in the USA and this will save you the 5% import duty per the terms of the AUS/USA free-trade agreement.

So yes, there are extra costs and it may be subject to more scrutiny from Customs and I believe it's not worth trying to undervalue just to skip the GST. First, if there are problems then the guitar isn't covered/insured for it's full value. Second, if Customs find out you are undervaluing to avoid GST then all hell will break lose. Third, if you purchase from a retailer, then they probably wont want to play that game anyway and will invoice or the full amount for shipping puropses. It's just a matter of weighing up the pros and cons when purchasing from overseas and remember to factor in shipping costs and duties to the price to see what you actually might save from buying locally.

Cheers and I hope it works out for you.

Are you saying there could be 10% GST, and a possible 5% Import Duty, and also a possible $120(+) Bullshit Fee?

Do you know the situation if you buy a secondhand guitar?
Are you still charged GST?

Thanks in advance. WALLY

Hi Wally,

Anything that is over $1000 in value will attract GST regardless of if it is new or second hand. Anything that doesn't expressly say "Made in USA" on the commercial invoice will attract an additional 5% Import Duty.

You will also pay the $120-200 "bullshit" handling fee on top of freight.

This is why many people dodgy up the commercial invoice. Problem with doing that is if there is a problem you are screwed. In my mind it's worth the peace of mind to do it properly on an expensive guitar but to each his own.

If you get caught out trying to scam Customs then you are in for a larger world of pain than just stuming up an extra couple of hundred dollars.

budd beat me to it, but yes, everything he says is spot on. And I totally agree with him about not dodgying up the invoice as well, better to play a straight bat with the invoice, particularly on an expensive guitar, as the consequences of being caught don't bear thinking about. The Commonwealth takes a dim view on being defrauded, just look at what the ATO does......:hmm:

I've found The Guitar lounge in Sydney for best price and service. I just bought my MIA Strat from Robert and he was fantastic to deal with. He shipped it to Melbourne and arrived in perfect condition.

Guys got a few odds and ends for sale for anyone interested...

Speaker
Eminence Private Jack 8ohm 12 inch 50watt
Good condition and can ship in original box $120 plus postage

Pickups
Seymour Duncan JB & 59 set with chrome covers good condition
Still has stickers on.
$150 set

Pedal
Earthquaker devices Crimson Drive. Germaniun based overdrive.
Good condition $130

Vox 2x12 open back speaker Cab
This cab doesn't have the Celestion blues but rather the Vox labelled 8 ohm jobs.
The Cab is wired for 16ohms but can be wired easily to 4 ohm.
Good Condition $250. Would probably prefer local pickup on this as she has some weight in her.

All prices plus shipping (shouldnt be much for the pedal or pickups)
I am located in Brisbane and am on the road all the time so local pickup drop off is easy.
PM if interested or want pics.
Cheers
Mick

I have for sale my Epiphone Les Paul Standard which I bought mid November 2010.

It has been professionally set up by Cargill Custom Guitars (Cargill Custom Guitars - Cargill Players.). The stock pickups have been replaced with Tonerider Alnico IV Classic by Jim Cargill and he also installed the schaller strap locks. The LP is fitted with 10-46 D'Addario strings and comes with hard case. It has been rewired by me using Tonemojo 50's wiring kit. Looking for $850 for the guitar and no swap.

I will post at the buyer's cost.

This is a great guitar and plays well.

Mick
