ASG - yes, the $140 from the US to Oz was a few years ago, but some still come close, maybe through subsidies. My brother got a guitar from Mauries Guitars last year for US$100 freight!!

The last guitar I had shipped to Sydney from the States was U$140. This was in November last year from Sweetwater. They ship by DHL and you have to email them for a shipping cost. Too bad the other chain stores don't ship to Australia.

The other problem I have noticed is music stores in the States not willing to use USPS for stuff like pedals. USPS doesn't offer tracking anymore so the US stores don't feel comfortable using them even though the service is just as reliable as a courier. This often means double, tripple, quadruple shipping costs to Australia.

Anyway, it may be an idea if we can keep catalogue of the US stores that offer reasonable shipping to Australia.

yeah some won't ship,especially stores,but i have had a private seller on ebay send one,that is a good idea if we know what seller's will ship and pricing!

first class shipping won't have tracking on smaller good's,but usps priority and express should have tracking!

If you dont mind me asking, what guitar did you buy? Ive tried in the past to buy epiphones/gibsons and it says they cant ship them because of manufacturer's restrictions...

It was a Fender Strat. I've noticed that also, that certain brands restrict their retailers from international sales. I was under the impression that Fender was like that also but Sweetwater had no problems shipping the guitar. Sweetwater are great and I always check in with the same sales guy before buying guitar stuff just to see what they can do shipping wise.

You can also check Music123.com. I recently priced an epiphone les paul custom with them and they had shipping of $100 to Sydney, Australia. Just put it in your cart and sign up with your address and it'll update with shipping. When I tried pricing a Squier CV Tele with them the checkout said they couldn't ship Squier's to Australia. It said the same thing when I wanted to add some Ernie Ball strings to an order I had for pedals so it looks like Music123's checkout is pretty up to date in terms of what they can and can't ship. It may be an idea to check them out. While the pedals I bought off them arrived quickly and safely their communication was crap (I had a problem with my checkout address and getting a timely response out of them was impossible).

This SG is as new condition.

Has upgraded 500k spec pot, upgraded US output jack, stereo. The best thing mod? We had a Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 bridge humbucker cost 162 pro installed. Orig. hard case 50 extra.

Bought new last year, has only been out of the bedroom for a couple of studio sessions. Couple of tiny marks but I'd consider it "near new" condition.

I took the plastic badge/logo off the grille as I was convinced it was somehow obstructing the sound... I think I was wrong. I have the logo and will be included of course, just need a blob of glue to reattach it.

Pickup only from Hills district in Sydney, postage is painful. No trades thanks.
