Serial on this thing is 068001.

Consistent with being either a 1980 if YMMXXX, or a 1978 if a MMYXXX? The latter makes more sense if it indicates June 1978, because there's no month of "68" in 1980!

I'm reasonably familiar now with Greco serial numbering, but this is my first flirtation with Aria Pro II of that era. Up until now I'd assumed the numbering system in use was YXXXXX.

What IS "Extra-I"? Who made them? Very little about them comes up in an on-line search.
Yeah, so definitely from '78 and the pickups then are Extra-I.

Extra-I were made by Matsumoku and are copies of Dimarzio Super Distortion.
They are also known as Protomatic-I and MMK 45.
Quite good pickups if you do like the Super Distortion sound.

I'm double-minded. I'm a fairly quiet player, mostly. Only thing stopping me from changing them out is that all hardware looks to be still untouched and un-messed-with by amateur paws.

The acoustic sound on this one is good, very resonant. I can happily sit in my sofa and play it unplugged. Makes a Greco sound a bit like granite, by comparison.
