Hi, I'm new to this and have a question. I have an epiphone LP standard plus top and the serial number starts with MR and I was wondering if anyone knows what factory that is. According to the numbers the guitar was made in Sept of 2001. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have one. Its also an 01 built plus. I've also seen in person a wierd marble like finish and a black custom with the "MR" prefix. The custom is still on the wall at a shop in Pa called BCR. I really trust those guys so I have no doubt it is legit.

Is this the 'weird marble-like finish' to which you refer?

I seen a LP in a pawn shop a week or so ago and it had a MR serial and the bridge and stopbar didnt have epiphone stamped nor did the jack or switch. The knobs and switch were in odd places I didnt trust it.

Close to that but i think it was lighter. more of a white shade. And the custom is stamped "used" on the back of the headstock.

I havent had my stopbar or bridge off yet, (set up is perfect, im not messing with it) but i did have to replace the switch. I know, you're all shocked that the switch failed :rolleyes: . The original switch is in fact stamped epiphone.

Manufacturer Reject?? Just a thought, for lack of a definitive answer yet.

MR = Mexican Riviera? :naughty:

I figured I could start a new rumor about that secret Epiphone location that no one knows about and watch the rumors fly! :lol:

I believe MR's are generally B stock or defectives... generally nothing wrong with them except minor finish flaws or something like that.
