Based on other Waverly tuners I have used, I can't imagine they would be anything but stellar.

well I found out they have a 4:1 tuning ratio...which isn't ideal for gtr

I requested them make a set with 1:18

if they did I'm sure they'd sell lots to firebird owners :dude: IMO they look better than anything else out there. and they are light too

The 4:1 tuning ratio works fine (look at all the flamenco guitars with wooden peg tuners); tuning just needs to be done a bit more carefully.

The original Martin OMs from 1929 and 1930 had banjo pegs and they work quite well.

Why did Gibson quit making the original style banjo tuners? Anyone know?

First off...Holy Necropost Batman! :D
Secondly. ..don't know for sure but probably because they kinda suck, they're heavy, and they've popped off too many headstocks. Now they've got the Steinbergers what's the point.

The Gibby Banjo tuners did suck. Steinbergers are lighter and stay in tune better IMHO
I also read the machinery used to fab the banjo style tuners was destroyed in the floods they had down there a few years ago
