Hmm Father Bob doesn’t ring a bell. I thought it was Ned or Ed or Ted something like that. But heh a mind is a terrible thing to waste. And as my friend P. Floyd would say “I was really drunk at the time”.
Thank you for the news of Pat's death. Slim Pickens was the top Allentown original rock band. I moved away years ago, but here is what I remember of Pat.
The summer of 73, one of the fraternities at Muhlenberg decided to try and get a little extra money by renting rooms. Pat, being a poor rock and roller, took a room. Pickens used it as a practice room. All the gear was set up, and we used to have jam sessions most nights. I can't remember if Tommy Crist, Pickens singer stayed there, but I think he did. I had only been playing a couple of years, but he was gentle and encouraging. He was a sweet guy, without ego. He played a single pick-up Les Paul Jr., double cutaway, with a single P-90, if I remember. He had great tone.
Slim Pickens did a soundtrack for a lighthearted near "classic porn" movie called Fringe Benefits. I have never seen the movie, but they released the title song as single. It got local radio airplay. I saw it on youtube a few years ago, but it seems to have been taken down.
