Anyone else love natural wood color tops?

What’s the story on the first guitar with P-90s and the Shiner sitting in front?

Epiphone Casino (MIK 1997), modded with a Rio Grande P-90 in the neck, black P-90 covers replacing chrome, Bigsby, master volume, and Grover tuners. All the mods were done by a prior owner/seller.

The guitar was a gift from bandmates! Sort of a "hey, it's cool you're still alive" thing, after throat cancer/surgery/chemo/radiation a dozen years or so ago.

It's an EG1000C from 1980. The EG800C was Super Sound. This was a Super Real with the waffle back tuners. Unfortunately it had been stripped of many of the parts and a bad sanding job done on the top.

The tremolo is a Goeldo Les Trem II. I swapped out the trem arm with a proper bigsby arm.

Like everyone I love bursts! But there’s something about natural. Especially the way this one is done. AAAAA Canadian maple 2 piece top. 1 piece neck and back using African Mahogany. Added pics of the back, neck and headstock. They did this one right.

What is it?

It took a bit of digging around to unravel the mystery of its origins, Lefty - eventually I found it in a catalogue of guitars from the Unsung factory in Korea - it's a Silver Star. (Yes, I know )

A friend who'd been working in the guitar selling business for years suggested it was a factory sample, sent out to try and reel in orders. I love it, decided I had to have it the moment I wrapped the fingers of my left hand round its gloriously chunky neck. And I got it a great price, as another friend was managing the shop where it had just arrived, and it wasn't yet on the stock list. All I've changed about it is to have Seth Lovers fitted to replace the generic humbuckers, fit new control knobs (and possibly a selector switch tip).

Does this guy count? A 1978 Ibanez #2671 : slim Ash body, Maple neck, ebony f'board with "Tree of Life" inlay, Super 70 pickups, cutaway belly, I think Bob Wier had a double cutaway version but mine was this one.

2012 Traditional in the nude. I played one similar back in '98 when I couldn't afford it, but I fell in love hard. I spent the last several years looking for the right one and finally found this beauty. My new #1!
