Yes. I only have an Epiphone ‘59 Standard now. If I get a Gibson LP, I’ll sell the Epi. It helps that I have several other nice guitars.

I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Std. '60s in Iced Tea.

Around six months after I got the Epi '60s, I decided to get a Gibson Les Paul Std. '60s in Tri-burst. I took my sweet time, but I finally got the Epi '60s to a music shop for consignment sale.

I encourage you to copy me so you can have a great guitar. Just don't drag your feet on getting the Epi LP sold!

I still have 20 electric guitars and 10 acoustic guitars.
I sold some of previous ones but now I regret to have sold a R6 LP
Of course 3 guitars would be reasonably "enough" (one acoustic, one fender strat and one gibson LP or 335)
Probably, if I had to choose only one, it would be one of my strats because more versatile
Most of them are custom shop and they are all different.Each has his own sound personality
It's a sort of authorized polygamy for me.
Each of them is an adventure between my fingers and my ears because each piece of wood is unique and the emotion is there to domesticate the "beast" on a good tube amp.
Unfortunately, I have no emotion to play on a low end serie guitar (touch, sound and feeling are different)
Of course, the exception is possible: I bought a quite good sounding brand new jumbo acoustic guitar for $100: the feeling on the neck is not very good but it sounds good because it's a jumbo size
I was born in the fifties and my generation has grown with Leo Fender, Gibson, Jim Marshall industry
Since the fifties, i'm surprised that nobody had dethroned those legendary instruments.
I was young at the same time as the Shadows,The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, BB King...
They began their legendary history when they were under 20 years old
Who are the 21th century guitar heroes (born after 2000) ?
I remember that one of the best gigs I played was with a good Strat ,a good cable and a JCM800
no pedals: the only way to change the sound is with fingers, the guitar pots and the gain amp pot
Fender and Gibson make business with their legend: they promise each year that the new top end model is the "more" perfect reissue of the first glorious models !
I recommend to each guitarist to make recordings with his band (or even alone)
I think that it's the best way to become a good musician

I have three Les Pauls, CS9 2015 / Jimmy Page 1996 / Epiphone Elite 2002 / the latter is on par with my Gibsons in fact may just overtake, which says a lot for the Japanese build.

To answer your question, for me yes.
I started playing guitar in 2014 and with a little improvement behind my belt, decided to add to the collection.
This year, I decided to sell everything that I did not reach for consistently and bought myself a ‘22 Original Collection Les Paul Special.
Now, I’m playing much more often and have jumped all of a sudden to another level of playing, for me at least.
The Special to me, is the perfect guitar for me (and my 2014 JB Strat) as it gives me all the feel, tone and inspiration to want to play.

So, in the style of the great George Thorogood I would sing…. “One Les Paul, One Strat…one beer.”

However I just don't have any desire. Although my Avatar says TradPro2 I sold that and bought a 2014
Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus new back in 14. I replaced the stock burst buckers with Dimarzios and
replaced the stock nut and bridge both with rollers, and that's it or modifications. I am done and I love it.

It plays beautifully and sounds fantastic to me. I honestly feel no reason to own more than this one guitar.
I get why a lot of players like to have many guitars, nothing wrong with having fun with variety.

I'd be happy to have one again. My home was burglarized and the S#B took my 73 LP Custom.

My only life goal, until I was thirty, was to own a Les Paul.
I finally managed it with the savings I'd made after two years of quitting smoking in 1990 (now just shy of £200k today).

Because of a small bike accident in '05, which knackered my fretting hand (enough to make playing some guitar/golf painful), I don't even play any more.
But I still keep two LP's ('90 Std & '10 Ltd) and around eleven others.
I have one ('10 Ltd) and an Ovation electro readily to hand in my living room.
The rest I keep around in the house.
...Somewhere.
After all, none of us ever know when Neil Schon / Angus will call and ask us to help out at Wembley one night and pain is for wimps, right?

Piano, keys and synth's only fer me these days.

My place always seems so small.

I initially started with the idea with only one Les Paul and one Strat... turns out that I can't really keep that promise to myself and now I'm up to 9 guitars in my collection which includes historic Les Pauls. I guess I might look to going for that single "one" in the future but not right now.

Well that's a loaded question ! I can only play one at a time ! In the 80's through the 90s I had only one LP, along with a SG, G&L strat and a warmoth strat with a floyd I was content. Something got into me in 2016 and I bought a Traditional LP, then a 17 SG, 19 Classic, and finally a 21 Standard keeping my 78 Deluxe and 80 Standard. I am done for a while !

I’m in a similar position - the difference being that I loaded up on guitars over the past 15 years and now realize that most are of little use to me. I set out to collect “iconic” guitars that had a significant place in rock history. I wound up with a Tele, 3 Strats, a Jazz bass. Rick 360-6, George Harrison’s Gretsch 6122, Gibson 335, and 339, Firebird V, an SG aN Ernie Ball John Petrucci, an Epi 62 Wiltshire reissue (custom shop) and a bunch of acoustics Martins Gibsons, Norman, and 3 red label Yamahas.

There are also 2 Les Pauls - an original 68 LP Custom I’ve owned since late 68 - this was bought new and is a collector guitar. The other is a 2018 LP TV yellow double cut Les Paul special. The 68 is an heirloom - the Special is the go to. I changed the bridge to an ABM wrap around with adjustable saddles, stainless jumbo frets and a compensated earvana nut. - this is the jam guitar and it’s really the only guitar I play with any regularity. I’m ready to sell most of the other electrics. I’ll keep one strat, the SG the 335 and both Les Pauls. No need for so many that don’t get played. The LP Special was an inexpensive guitar they only sold for a little over a year. The build quality is passable, but not great, but the neck and frets are perfect. The stock P90s are delightful - clear and detailed at 7 - turn them up and they growl. This will be the last guitar I buy - when you find one - or one finds you, that works on all fronts, there’s no point keeping others - let someone else enjoy them.

Yep, my '79 Les Paul Custom is one and done as far as Les Pauls go. I do have 8 other electrics.

None of my 8 guitars are a Les Paul - yet. But for me, the only reason to have more than one of them would be different p/ups: 1 Standard, 1 Deluxe, 1 GT, 1 '55-56 LPC, & 1 Recording.

Or, if we're being insane about it, I suppose I could be convinced to add a Jr., LPS, & '57-'60 LPC.

But really, give me a '56 GT or LPC & I'd be fine.

Different tools for different jobs is my approach to it. I have around 15 guitars right now after buying, selling and trading for 7 years. My oldest is a 77 Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Burst. Props to the people that can live with just having one.

I gig and only have two electrics.
The backup for my LP is a strat. I have no problems with that. I just adjust a bit the EQ and the volume and move on. The songs may sound a bit different that day but that's fun.
I don't think I will ever buy another electric, I have the perfect pair:
