Anybody out there with a Carfax acct?

I need a car fast... I found one I want, that I can afford *barely* but I don't have carfax and I'd love to know if it's a salvage or rebuilt ect... The guy who owns it says he had no trouble insuring and registering it, and he seems trustworthy, but I have been burned in the past... If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it! Even if there are any LEO's here that can at least tell me the car wasn't stolen, that would make my day!
