I don't know man, that is a beautiful guitar. But if you don't like it, you don't like it.
It is painful to send it back it has a prs 10 top. But this is the real money shot. If you get past the pink, it is a monster top imo. But …. And by the way the bridge on this one is sitting significantly higher than the other Standard. Like 3 threads on the post difference. Is that a thing? The Bourbon burst has good action (just a high nut) with the bridge almost decked.

Too much of the tear drop look to it I think and heading towards the Clown Burst direction. Your Bourbon Bust is an awesome looking guitar.

They probably sanded a little to much of the maple cap where that post goes in, so it is higher to accommodate. My Epiphone Les Paul Custom is just like that on the same side as yours, the low E side. I almost wanted to send it back because mine is up even a little more than that. But it feels/plays fantastic, I Pay'd the extra to have it Plek'd at Sweetwater, so it came with a perfect setup.

Sweetwater's white balance is thrown off by their background, which I believe is actually a bit on the grey side of white.
Reds are hard to photograph to begin with if you want to capture the true color, and Sweetwater's pics ain't it.

To make things worse their exposures are all over the board. Even comparing several of the same model available at one time within their comparison feature shows completely differing exposures.

I will never understand knowing that the image is their strongest asset online yet they treat it with so little value.

It’s a nice guitar, for sure.

I have never understood why Gibson USA continues to tread so close to Bozo land with this finish. Seems it could be solved to large extent by just going to a deeper, richer red and a more ballsy amber. Reduce the stark contrast and overall brightness and make it easier to blend/transition. Use the former Washed Cherry custom shop as a guide. Those were not clowny, but still gave up the red.

well the figure doesn't disappoint (AAA upcharge) but... I don't think I'm going to like the pinkish hue. after all those days of anticipation, I think I'm sending this back and keeping the two-tone bourbon burst. I'm going to ponder it after the work day is over and I can look again with fresh eyes. but right now I vibe with the bourbon better... two tone prominent center seam and all

What are you smoking ?!? That is a gorgeous 50's standard.

60's actaually (sweetwater aaa exclusive). I am super badly torn between the two - and the red one has a slightly pink vibe with smoking flame, and the bourbon has perfect paint to me with modest figure. I'm trying to decide if I can just keep both but I realistically have to return one.

I think it looks nice. There's nothing wrong with it for me and cherry Sunburst is, my favorite finish.
But at the end of the day it's you that has to like it

Both look great to me. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. If your heart is set on one, go with that. These LPs aren’t cheap, so def important to love the color of the one you get.

I've bought a Heritage Cherry 60's from Sweetwater on a gamble that "the website pics don't do it justice" but for the last 3 nights I've laid awake wondering if I'm getting a guitar that will look like a candy cane. But I hope the white brick sweetwater background and the lighting are distorting the way it looks in real life. Anybody got a good pic of a recent Heritage Cherry Sunburst to cheer me up (nobody post the clown photo with the 5 ugly guitars and Bozo ok :) They look better than this in real life don't they?
If you consider a 2017 a recent LP, then here is my LP Standard

I love the more subtle flames on the Bourbon Burst, such a sweet looking guitar. Just like someone else said, you can't go wrong picking either one, the Cherry Sunburst is sweet as well. It also looks like in your light that the Cherry Sunburst has a little two face going on as well. I think almost all have that two-face look depending on the light and angles, that is the magic of the 3D Nitro look. Which one feels/plays nicer? I had to take mine to my Luthier twice, even though it is supposed to come Plek'd and pretty much setup well already.

I got to hand it to Sweetwater for customer service no matter what. I told the guy I was torn and he said take your time. He said "sleep in the center of your bed with one on each side and the one you wake up holding, buy that one" lol.

Obviously I'm trippin. I appreciate all the feedback and insight here. You're all cool patient people

I'm not catching anything "pinkish" in the photos, but they can be deceiving. Personally I am liking the looks of the HCS one but for me it would be 25% looks and 75% how it plays and sounds.

We’ve all been there. I def have. I tried out and bought/returned so many LPs before I decided on my triburst. Finding the right Les Paul that checks all your boxes in terms of feel, sound, and looks takes time and some trial and error but so worth it when you find a keeper.

I brainwashed myself that the Cherry was "orange" and not "pink" and learned to embrace the color hues (but the bourbon has to me PERFECT color hues and paint job). Decided to back burner the appearance and really play both a lot to see which I preferred blindfolded basically. Pretty interesting comparison.

Cherryburst: darker waxier fretboard feels great. 9.25lb but really feels fine on the shoulder weight wise no ding for that (if I buy another I won't bat an eye at 9 1/4 pounds). Plays a little tight. bad setup out of the box with negative neck relief and real high bridge to compensate. Fixed both so the action and relief same as the other guitar (the 55 pt inspections are a joke imo). Sounds focused and dark. on macbook photobooth playback it sounds great - sounds better on playback than when playing in a weird way (and of course facetiming yourself is not exactly "in the studio. Neck girth feels borderline bigger like barely and the neck finish felt thicker and looked a richer red.

Bourbonburst: 8.85lb very tasty weight. plays slinky not tight at all. airy tone and sustains more. made me smile more while improvising it just vibrates different. fretboard could use a fret doctor treatment I think - it isn't terrible but it has some lighter streaks. I went back and forth a lot on sustain because I couldn't believe it was so different - but it really seems to ring our acoustically a few beats longer esp on g string middle frets - makes the cherryburst sound thuddy by comparison but everytime I switched back to cherry I thought it sounded good to - but just doesn't shake in my chest the same.

The final straw - I noticed psychologically ... as I was talking to myself while playing side-by-side I would say "I'm switching to the other one" or "I'm switching to mine". over and over and it was always the bourbon burst I called "mine". Maybe simply because I had it a week sooner but maybe something deeper lol. I think its the one I would wake up with my arms around.

I'd almost rather keep both than send back that cherry flame top but that's what I'm gonna do. I realized I was putting in a lot of work trying to talk myself into it. Boy it did have nice fretboard though - like totally the "new guitar feel". It's been fun.

I really like my Iced Tea Burst.
I find that cherry can sometimes be a bit bright... and of course there's always the concern that as it ages, it may "clown" out like the old ones, which I do not believe were that bright when new.
Tobacco is just too dark for my taste on a Lester... looks nice on a Strat.
Bourbon and Iced Tea are right in the "Goldilocks zone" for me.

Sounds like the blindfold test sealed the deal for the Bourbon Burst. Love it.

Obtaining a Cherryburst standard is a goal for me, but that top did nothing for me and I immediately preferred the BB based on looks alone. It's sweet looking ( and not because it came from sweetwater )
