Any Orange TT owners here experiment with different tubes?

Just curious on you guys' thoughts on what formulas you've come up with! I've got (2) very old RCA 12AX7's that I've tried, (1) very old Westinghouse 12AX7, some Westinghouse, GE, RCA, Philips, Admiral, and Raytheon vintage tubes of the 12AT7 and 12AU7 varieties.
I've pretty much ruled out the 12AU7's as they just pretty much nuder (spelling?lol) the amp too much. I've found any combination of the 12AX7's to not make a huge amount of difference whether mixed, or in either slot. In any case, a decent improvement over the stock.
A killer combo that I've come across is an RCA in V1, and a Raytheon 12aT7 in V2. Yes, less gain than with (2) 12AX7's, but clearer more solid sounding gain, and with a deeper and tighter bark to the distorted tones!! Strong!!!! From there if I want more gain I just boost it with a good ole' Bad Monkey. Wouldn't mind a Maxon TS808, but don't know if its necessary, never tried one.
So, what are your "winning combos"?

Update, crickets......
A GE 6021(6201?) has officially been PLANTED into V2, forever. And ever. And ever. And ever. Do try one of these if you can find one. From what I read about em', its a USA made military spec version of a 12AT7. Just awesome!!!!
Most musical combo I've tried coupled with the old RCA 12AX7 in V2. Almost the same nice "bark" as the raytheon, with more volume, less noise, same tight lows, and more usable highs, even less rasp than the raytheon but with more usable highs. Wow!!!!

Hey needlespauls,
Yes needlespauls,

I went back to (2) 12AX7's as I found a short-plate vintage Sylvania 12AX7 in my stash which I put in V1 as it tested out very strong in my tube tester. I followed that up in V2 with a matched reading old RCA 12AX7 in V2. WOW!!!!!!! Louder, fuller, absolutely crushing gain, like I never would imagine from this amp. I'm still a fan of the 6201 tube, very much so. But this current setup will stay for quite a while. What a great sounding amp now!!!!

hey, ive got a question for a friend, he has the TT combo and really likes it but wishes it had more clean head room. do you know what tubes might get a cleaner/'colder' tone?

A 12AU7 will strip almost all the balls entirely when placed in the second slot. A 12AT7/6201 in the second slot is a favorite of mine for a little more headroom and sound-quality.

I'm a high-gain guy at heart so my two 12AX7's will stay at the moment, but here and there I'll run with a 6201 as well. In any case, if he hasn't at least upgraded the pre-amp tubes, theres a great place to start regardless of what combination he uses.
