I work in town, but don't get over to that part of the city often. You're right in the middle of it all.

I do pass within a couple blocks of there, twice daily, on the subway going through the Park Street station. The hotel you're at is a three or so miles from my work.

When are you in town?

You're about a ten minute walk from the Orpheum Theater. Tedeschi/Trucks Band is there tonight and tomorrow night.

The area has everything: movie theaters, excellent restaurants, night clubs and bars, and great scenery and history.

You are in the close vicinity of downtown Boston and Park Street Station. Here's a map of the subway if you decide to ride and take in some close attractions: http://66.media.tumblr.com/ca6699216cb9f370f1925d6bf6f70bca/tumblr_ml0tk3NDAW1r54c4oo1_1280.jpg

You may have seen this, but it's worth a look anyway. Just a couple of stops from Park St. or Downtown Crossing is Haymarket, where you can check out the beautiful Quincy Market area, which boasts more visitors yearly than Disney World: http://www.ninezero.com/hotels-in-downtown-boston/

One stop further, North Station (or even a quick walk from Quincy Market) is Boston's North End, the Italian section of Boston.

I've never been but friends say there's a great 'walking' route in Boston.
You can do as much or as little as you want.
Takes in a lot of sites, both informative, historic, and beautiful.
Apparently.
Hotel can probably put you on to it.

Just don't offer anyone any cups of tea.
We made that mistake once.....

You can take a look at this (Freedom Trail) which is basically a walking tour that takes you all over Boston to historical sites. I used to live near Old Ironsides (USS Constitution) in Charlestown, MA (practically in Boston, near the North End) and always thought it was cool. There is a water taxi from the Charlestown Navy Yard (location of Ironsides) to downtown Boston (Long Wharf, IIRC). If you take the water taxi either way, it saves on walking and you get to see the city from the water.

If the weather is nice, take a walk along the Charles River.

okay, so boston is awesome. stayed at the kimpton nine zero. did the
full freedom trail on foot. did the constitution tour in the middle. saw
the mass state house and associated park. went to little italy / north end.
saw two celtics games, and got removed from one of them. ate some
fantastic food. went to patriot park a few times, since we were working in
franklin, but i stayed fri through sunday in the hotel. did the quincy market
deal. beantown bar was right next to the hotel and it was a really busy
place. there are some beautiful women in that town. did a bunch of smaller
historic visits while i was footin' it aorund.

if anyone has a chance, visit for a few days. it's for sure worth it.

i hear ya. the 1st celtics game i went to, i basically saw every
boston stereotype that you ever read about, or see on tv, on
the walk up to the suite. it was really entertaining.

So what did you do to get booted out of the Gaadin? I worked for many years in Boston, lots of fun nights out in town.

the jumbotron camera caught us in the crowd and i did the
tongue between my fingers routine. about 15 minutes later
we were out on the street. "obscene jesture", they called it.

the entire crowd busted out laughing when i did it, but the
comedy did not seem to fall kindly on the powers that be.

i did it in the most subtle way, too. i didn't stand up or act crazy.
in any case, it was not appreciated.

The last time I took my family to Fenway park there was this couple sitting behind us making out like mad and my 6yr old daughter staring at them swapping tongues... its funny how little girls notice that stuff, she was all like grossed out and intrigued at the same time.
