Update and new pic. The paleos are still trying to determine if these are immature or a new species. This one was cleaned by the University. Note the droozy quartz.
Like RichBrew , I also live on the Jurrasic coast in west Dorset and you can find stacks of stuff wandering along the bottom of the cliffs. Mostly things like ammonites, but there is loads of other stuff too. It's just knowng where and what to look for, which I must admit I don't know much about.
69 I collect fossils. I carry an ancient shell with me. When I get DOWN I hold it in my hand and realize I'm a speck. I go to Lambertville outdoor fleMarket in NJ> there is a geologist that sells relics. I bought some Tecktite and Shells and other strange stuff. I have some RUST I bought. I also carry old coins on me. Love ancient things. They humble and connect you to the spirits!
I dont have any Fossils, but i did find an ancient tile when i was diging around in an old creek bank in the mountains west of Paskenta CA on my uncles property. Dont have any idea how old it is, but there were Native Tribes in the area for a few thousand years. There were four of them the same shape and size, my dad kept one my brother and sister, and this was mine. The area has alot of red clay banks. We also found three stone grinding blocks also
Some of the other fossil`s I had pick up were upper sternum rib bone (dugong/manatee) Camel fang yes a fang. very small mastadon tusk( 8 inches long complete) Translucent clam shells
Its very fortunate to have a professional I.D. these for me otherwise its only a guess. thanks people for the kind comments sparks interest and discussion Rock On!!
I do have small sheets of the coral. If there was a way to shape and polish it maybe a pick would be cool. I know some people who buy it ,turn the best pieces into jewerly. I`ll work on the pick idea.
