Been finding this 45 million year old agatized coral. Very. very hard. Exposed to the water and stained/polished. Too cool in person.

Yeah some of those teeth can get big. I`ve seen meg teeth 8 inches. Some broken ,maybe would have been bigger. 60foot JAWS! I am approaching fossilization

Yes . Exactly. Had a Paleontologist visit me 2 weeks ago from the U of Fla. Seems I have discovered a unknown type of miocene decapod crustacean. (shrimp). At least to this area. Closet place is in Utah somewhere. Hes asking for me to name it.
Far as the chalcedony, Some of the finest.Translucent sheets sometimes. Indians made arrowheads out of them.

Thank you. Yeah thats kinda what I doing educating myself as I go. Its unreal somethings we see diving/snorkeling. But the (Bug) was something I kept not knowing what it was. I `ve found maybe 8 good examples.
Choosing a name is tricky I`d think. localle something . It will get transformed into latin somehow.

I don't find them, except for sale, but I love them. I got hooked at the Tucson Rock and Mineral Show. I would love to go back with some real money to buy stuff. I grabbed a few things, but did not have enough time to really shop (I was there on business).

We live on an area of oolitic Jurassic limestone, got a segment of an ammonite that must have been a foot across.

The oldest fossil we have in our collection is a graptolite, about 500 000 000 years old. found in Wales.

That arrow head is sweet.

Although I don't collect fossils, I am fortunate to live close enough to an area where they are in abundance: UNESCO's Jurassic Coast, Dorset/Devon, UK. This 95 miles of coastline records 185 million years of Earth's history. It is relatively easy to find fragment lying on the beaches, although larger specimens can be found intact, but embedded in the rock.

The photograph was taken at low tide from Broad Bench (near Kimmeridge, Dorset), looking west towards Gadd Cliffs, Worbarrow Tout and Portland.
