WTF people? What is all this "too old" and "not able to sustain it" bull$hit?? There are plenty of older bands out there that don't have problems. Plant has been touring constantly as well. The reason O2 worked was because they identified their shortcomings and addressed them. They tuned down, they eliminated the rambling solos and jam sessions. They stuck to the basics and it worked, and it worked wonderfully. These guys are 3 of the best musicians out there, and if anybody could do it at an advanced age, its them!

Maybe they could have an LZ tribute band open each set so you kinda' get the best of both worlds...some of the live LZ experience in their prime and with modern live sound quality, and whatever the real ones are doing today.

That's ridiculous.

I think it'd be cool, actually. Maybe have one from each city they tour. Some of these bands are really quite good.

yeah, that's what you want - :laugh2::cool: - all the haters would come out & say the warm up band was more like LZ than the real LZ. why would you want two bands playing the same thing?

They'd play'em differently or play songs that the other wouldn't, and who cares about the 'haters' if the music's good?

I seriously doubt LZ would risk being of accused of having been shown up by upstarts. They would have plenty of songs such that there would be no time for a warm up band anyway.

Frankly, if they're comfortable enough with playing and not sounding like they used to, I don't think they should be intimidated or concerned about being 'shown up'. Obviously, I don't think they'd go for it, but music-quality wise it'd be cool.

Clearly it would degenerate into a battle of the bands / who is the best LZ........bad idea all around

A tribute band battling the original? Tell me you wouldn't find that awesome?

No, I would find it insulting. They had tribute bands at the Kennedy awards ceremony. I don't have any desire to see more.

Listen, If I have a ticket to see the Mighty Zeppelin, I wouldn't care who opens for them. They might as well forget an opening band.

I could see how some would feel that way, but at the same time, sometimes when you watch the Stones or the like these days, you'd rather hear a tribute band playing the actual music and playing it better, as the 'real' ones are hard to sit through. But then obviously (hopefully), the LZ members today wouldn't necessarily try to play Dazed And Confused the way they did in their 20's. Some of the folk/acoustic stuff from III on the other hand I'd really like to hear them play today with maybe an updated arrangement.

I imagine if they do get together again (and I'm not convinced they will), it would be for a handful of shows in select cities around the globe, not a full blown tour...and if so, you can forget about getting a ticket, unless you are a very wealthy man (or are willing to sell your Historic LP for a ticket, haha).

I don't think a tribute band would play it better; maybe more like the studio version but not better. Again, if I wanted to see a tribute band I would go see one. If I buy tickets to see LZ, that is who I want to see playing LZ stuff, not some other chumps. The only thing it would serve to do would be to start arguments about who was better. Nobody wins and there is no point for doing that. LZ does not need a warm up band or any others coming on before them trying to imitate them.

Have you even seen Celebration Day?? They absolutely knocked it out of the park.
