Another 490R/498T magnet swap success story

Old thread, but wanted to give thanks to those that posted over the years.

I just swapped the magnets in my LP studio+ To have an A5 490r and the A2 498t. I really like it. I didn’t hate the stock, but the swap gives them more of what i want (tighter neck and warmer bridge, and the higher output of the bridge is less pronounced when switching pickups from the bump to the neck).

Did the 490/498 mag swap about 5 years ago on multiple guitars and it made a difference. Gibson should wake up and offer this configuration. They could probably charge more and get it. The current configuration is a real mismatch.

Huh. I've been really enjoying my '93 again after finally deciding not to sell it and am curious about this mod. I dig the stock pickups in this guitar (490/498 with the covers removed), but there's always more/better isn't there?,
