Does anyone have any experience of the King of tone pedal and if so how was it?
An opportunity has arisen.;)

Awesome pedal! Mine was modded with the higher gain OD/red side… and I highly recommend that if you get one.

Have to say, I hugely disapprove of this sentiment

Disapprove or disagree? It's a good/bad thing, depending on whether you're the buyer or the seller. I don't need a new dirtbox so I'm indifferent, really. I have a problem with gouging people on clean water and food staples, but if someone wants a distortion pedal they can pay the price or not.
Supply and Demand.
They're welcome to wait for one.
Personally, I think Mike should hire two more guys to build them until the wait list is down to a month or gone. A year??
No way. Not me. But people are able to do as they please, as far as I'm concerned. :)

My point is that he won't get stuck with it. If he loses money on it, it's his own fault. I'm not saying to use it as financial planning, but don't worry about taking a hit on a flip. If it's beat up, he shouldn't pay "new" price.
It's a great box, by all accounts. I'm sure OP will dig it.

No i disapprove, which is why i used that word.

Putting yourself on a waiting list with the intention of selling it to someone further down the list for a higher market value is just wrong. Its the same as ticket touting.

You cannot just wash it off with the principle of supply and demand. It is no different than ticket touting.

You are creating an artificial demand, then charging a higher price.

Why is the waiting list a year? Is it all down to Mike? I wonder how much of that list is people just selling them on for a profit. If you took those people out, then the wait time would reduce.

If i was Mike and i knew someone was doing that, i would refuse to sell it to them and move to the next person on the list. He is losing nothing by doing so.

If you are on the list but decide you no longer need one, don't buy it just to stiff someone else - take yourself off the list. If you genuinely want to try it out, but then decide it is not for you, then yes, seller's market as you say.

But act with some integrity FFS.

I have one, they are great peddles. I waited on the list. I'll sell it for twice what I paid if anyone wants one. :laugh2::thumb:

Buy it for what you can, sell it for what you want. Integrity has absolutely nothing to do with it, the same as buying or selling anything you own, unless you're living on a kibbutz, of course.

Say there is a list of 100 people.....you reach number 1 and buy the pedal just to sell to number 100 - you have basically f*cked over numbers 2-99, as well as Analog Mike himself.

A genuine sale is fair enough but this type of behaviour is wrong.

Its no better than ticket touting.

You've come up with a scenario that no one here suggested the OP do and now you're defending it to the hilt. Good that you have your own thing going. No one is saying your scenario is what anyone should do.

No one is getting screwed over in that scenario. The people in line still have to wait and still get their pedal cheaper than the guy who doesn't. What would be shady is if the manufacturer allowed you to pay extra to jump in line.... *ahem*

The OP said he has come up on the list, but doesn't need it, so marshall moonshine suggested just getting it anyway as you could sell it for the same OR more.

Maybe he meant well, but I said I disapproved of that sentiment.

A bunch of you then tried to justify it, which was why I tried to explain the issue with doing that.

I'll put it another way....

Say you were standing in the queue outside the shop waiting to get what you wanted (think about when a new apple device comes out). You are about halfway down, when the person at the front then announces they are 'selling their place to the highest bidder', so a passer by pays them money and then takes their place. You would all be fine with that would you? I very much doubt that. I think their would be a lot of protest.

This situation, is no different, just because you can't see it, doesn't make it any better.

To Duaneflowers, shame you felt the need to resort to insult.
