Not once in your story, did I hear the words MyLesPaul Forum,
Mark, but I'm sure you told him we talk gear here all the time!
You did, didn't you?

Once again the universe conspires in your favor. Congrats!

Hey see you there....I'll be in the front row.......

How does one obtain "meet and greet"? Can you upgrade an existing ticket?

I will get you a meet and greet if you get my wife and I in the front row :dude:

I am row 12 center. We do have m&g though. Should be a great show!

My buddy Al has the tix, I have no idea exactly where we are, but I know that they are real good. He was in the neighbor hood the day they went on sale and walked to the box office. Had I known about it, I would have told him M&G but I didn't know anything about it till after he got them.

To my knowledge, you can't buy the meet and greets, so don't feel bad there. Definitely call me tho....maybe we can grab a beer before hand. My # is in my FS thread!

Thank you for this post, that was a really good read and the last part was funny. Must have been tempting. What an experience, you must have been floating after that.

As I am playing it, and having an out of body experience with my new all time favorite Burst, Joe describes how he purchased it from an individual in Africa and how it had a 60's Gibson logo (from an amp) attached to the top right below the tail piece.
Joe points out the slight damage left after it's removal.
This '60 is the shit!!!
Perfect in every way, for me!
We were ment to be together......

I don't know if you only got Joe wrong or how he told the story, but he did not acquire this Burst in SA himself. It's an old story and the guitar resurfaced in Germany, where he bought it from a dealer. It's a nice guitar though, I checked it out right after the logo had been removed: Burst Pic of the Week: The Burst That Got Away ... not a happy ending. - Les Paul Forum

Cool story. If it wasn't for the pics you would think its BS. I am seeing him in Sept for the first time. Looking forward to it. He seems pretty much like the rest of us here. In fact he is a lot like me apart from the fact he is rich and talented and I am not.

Great story. He has really gotten big time. Only time I saw him was about 2001 or so and there were maybe 15 people at the club. Good to see a nice fellow guitar nerd make it!

By the way, as I recall he mainly played a Strat that night and an SG.

Thanks for turning me on to this website. I was there and seen it all. I only with I was there for a few more minutes. Joe played my R9 LP But would not sign it. He explained why and that he didnt want to deface it with an autograph which I understood so he signed the cover plate on the back. I was asked twice if it was a "Sandy" Joe was one of them.

I'm very glad to see you here! :applause::thumb::applause::thumb:
(See, Artie...I did talk MLP)

I was the other person to call your R9 a Sandy.....
Sandy is the replica of a well known Burst, by a well know owner.
If your had CC 4 stamped on the back of the headstock, she would be a Sandy.

Gibson.com: Gibson Custom Collector's Choice™ #4 1959 Les Paul "Sandy"

Thank you so much for letting me play your gorgeous R9!

It was great to meet you and your wife! :dude:

Joe's such a nice guy and a gearhead just like us. I spent a couple of hours with Joe and his tech Mike looking and playing all the beauties he had with him. Joe just got The African Burst a few days before and the neck was really similar to the Dutch Burst we brought for him to see and play.
