Was just there a very short while ago, and missed the opportunity to go back.

The Van Goh Museum is amazing. Lots of stuff to do their besides partying, and frankly their partying is overrated.

Their weed is great though. But Brussels is extremely relaxed about weed here, you can actually grow your own here. So it's pretty silly for people to travel somewhere for just weed.

They do that shit here in Brussels too. I ****ing hate that. I swear if I catch someone doing that I'm going to punt the owner across the street.

I dont think it will fly. A high % of tourism comes from just that.
I agree, at my age, not going on vacation to get stoned and forget everything
I almost did because I was stoned.

But, in my early 20's, ya, that would have been the only reason I went.

And bicyles everywhere. And tulips. And windmills. And wooden clogs. And cheese.

And don't forget the little boys that like to stick their fingers in Dykes!!

There are other things to do for tourists.

Yeah but you'd probably have to be high to want to hit that.

They all look good after a couple.. It's not quality, it's quantity. Who wants to be a whore in Amsterdam?
I liked those "Automatiques". So you're super stoned and hungry (of course). Go there, put a couple of coins in those machines and out comes some deep fried sh*t what totally burns your mouth,..but tastes really good. Huge selection. You'll spend at least one hour in there. :D

That is not me btw.

Fake IDs....

And honestly, isn't that why nearly everyone takes a trip to Amsterdam? That's not smart on their part.

I have no idea if this thing will pass or not, and frankly it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I don't smoke pot and I don't go to whores. I'm not judging those that do, it's just not my thing, and isn't something that would draw me to another country.

I think if it passes, it will change the way foreigners perceive Amsterdam though. Almost anytime the city comes up in conversation, it's the pot bars and brothels that people talk about. I find that a little sad, but that's just me. :)

If I WERE a stoner or liked frequenting prostitutes, all of that is available in pretty much any major city. I could smoke as much weed as I want at my studio with very little chance of being busted. Just not my thing. :D

Amsterdam Will Ban Tourists from Pot Coffee Shops - Global - The Atlantic Wire

Hadn't seen any threads about this posted here, and thought it might be of interest to some. :)

Ya heard about that a few months back... Them Bastards!!! where am I suppose to go when I'm retired.. ;)

If you haven't been I suggest you go.. I didn't partake but did put in the back of mind to go there when I retire.

I also like their "tourist" brochure.. I think I kept a copy of it.. but there was a blurb in there about the "Women might not be Women" and that if something happens go to the police "because we know why you are there" and a few other stuff.

I'd love to see the museums again, now that I'm old enough to really appreciate the art.

And I'd like another ride in those canal boats with the glass tops.

Nice bump spammer. Actually the law was rescinded. It is now up to individual cities to ban tourists if they want.

if you're caught with drugs in your possession, even if it's a small amount,
the authorities will take them from you, and you have to pay a fine.
(and if it happens to be more than 5 grams,
it's automatically considered trafficking, which is a crime.)

am i a criminal for parking my car on the sidewalk?
no, parking a car on the sidewalk doesn't constitute a crime.
but is it illegal to do so? yes, it is, 'cause the law says you can't.
so i'm breaking the law and have to pay a fine? yes.

same scenario.

Parking on the sidewalk isn't the same has holding 4 grams of china white.

Well, human nature being what it is, I imagine that it'll still be possible for foreigners to get weed at a coffee shop, just not legal and over the counter... Where there's profit to be made, there's usually someone willing to bend the rules.

LOL. Then why leave any US city? :dunno:
