Sorry if this has been addressed, but it appears in the pictures that I have seen of the "New" Standards that the binding color is no longer flesh/pink. Is that the case?

Beautiful! I'm really glad they're doing Trans Amber again. I love that finish.

Cheers to a fellow Orange user as well.:thumb:

Trans amber is one of my favourite finishes for a LP, and this one is a great example of why. Congratulations!

Thanks again for the awesome comments, and cheers to all the fellow Orange players!
I'll see what I can do about better pictures.

Sweet!!!!!!!!!!

That top looks like the glossy version of mine.

It's funny because my desire for this color actually came after seeing your guitar a while back (and the whole faded thread). There just wasn't much available until.

That is beautiful! So the Amber flame is not reversed? On the Gibson website the Amber flame is opposite of the other color flames (V-shaped instead of A-shaped if guitar is standing upright). http://www2.gibson.com/Images/Produ...STDPTACH1-Finish-Shot-jpg.aspx?KeepThis=true& vs http://www2.gibson.com/Images/Produ...STDPLBCH1-Finish-Shot-jpg.aspx?KeepThis=true&

I think this is going to vary for each individual guitar that Gibson makes.

It is not pink looking on my guitar. However, this is something that tends to appear more on guitars that have red in the finish. I think red finishes just give the binding that look without it actually being pink. Don't think the binding used on my guitar is any different.

Here is a group picture with my quilt tops showing the same binding. I didnt post it before because it came out blurry, but it serves the purpose here. All also have natural backs and look more creme colored due to no red top or back:

Oh god thats nice!

Who needs to pay all that cash for a Slash sig when that looks the same!

Yea it is pretty close. As good as the zebra pickups look on the amber, I think I'm happy with the covered. Might switch the vol/tone comtrols though. Still thinking about that as the amber look better than expected.

Wow nice!

It looks exactly like the AFD lesters. Only with covers instead of zebras.

Here's mine:

Disregard the pick-guard, it's a screwless pickguard I just tested out for a bit. It's only mounted in the pickup-rings.

THIS IS ONE SWEET AMBER LP TOO!

That is too funny because from certain angles mine looks exactly like yours but from other angles it sometimes looks a little too yellow for me. As soon as I saw the first picture you posted of yours the first thing that popped into my head was 'I kind of wish mine looked like that'.

I'm not sure if you saw the thread or not but I posted some more recent pictures of mine (along with other gear) a couple of days ago:

Happy NGD man! That loos killer! And I really like how the trans amber is a little darker instead of real light/pale like some of the past ones have been. The way the grain looks kind of black it reminds me of a Joe Perry (I know, that's pushing it, and those are green anyways.) But very nice!

I thought that finish was called lemon?

Damn nice looking guitar. I love the natural backs on the ebonys.

They make me want to get my ebony r0's back refinished natural.

You definitely have some sweet gear. I see the resemblance in the LPs, but your right that mine can look more yellow in certain lights. Those were all indoors. I need to get some outdoor shots like yours. The flame can be hard to photograph from some angles.

Thanks man. I'm not exactly sure on the difference, but I think lemon is only a custom shop color (could be wrong on this).

This just proves how bad that photo was cause those guitars actually aren't ebony. They are both limited run quilt tops and aren't that dark in person. The black just kind of took over in the photo. My avatar is one of them. I'll always like the old bursts, but really dig more modern type colors with a natural back.

Thanks. This one definitely has some nice contrast. I'm just an all around fan of amber whether pale or more yellow/lemon :).

I think it looks cleaner than last years AFD, no silly slash logo (in my own opinion). I bet it sounds as good as it looks!! At first I thought someone had stolen your guitar

Lol no just trying to change up the same old NGD titled thread since I don't think a new 2012 standard had been posted in amber yet until now. Think the color still isn't available in most places.

One person told me they ordered one already. Hope it inspires so more. :)

No Bro, I meant that mine can sometimes look to yellow for me. I thought yours looked perfect in that first photo. If you think that about yours then they must be near identical.
