Interesting video. It's a shame things like this aren't preserved.

My dad worked as an Engineer for Singer in Washington D.C. in the 50's.

*EDIT: he worked for Remington Rand (Mom Corrected me.)

We used to take pride in beautiful architecture. Afraid it's a reflection on our society that we don't hold the same value anymore.

nice! I had a poster of the New York skyline done in an Art Deco style and could easily name all of the buildings except for one, The Singer Tower. Myter finally solved.

The engineering they put into that building for its time was crazy.

funny this thread

a few days ago, during a drive, my daughter was commenting how older buildings, had so much character and design, whilst new buildings are so bland. i just said yep, nowadays developers just build them cheap.. function over form.
