I just got a copy of Alvin's The Last Show album last week. Yeah, he lost a little speed over the years, but the album was still fantastic. Alvin is one of many in his generation that I unfortunately never got to see in concert.

Alvinfan, do you know what amp Alvin used? His tone on The Last Show was killer.

Just got thru setting up his 335 at HOB Chicago, 1999.
Funny, sincere and a true gentleman. And then 20 minutes later he and the original lineup just SMOKED the crowd.

I don't wanna sh!t too much on your thread because it's obvious how much you like Alvin Lee. I like him too, but he would only be 70 today if he hadn't died. Imagine how old Genghis Kahn would be today if HE hadn't died. King Tut would be REALLY old today if he hadn't died.

What's your point? Music fans always come into the forum to mention the birthday of a deceased performer. It's to honor their birthday, and to remember their career and their music. This is a guitar forum. Who gives a flying crap about Genghis Kahn or King Tut?

Well... since you asked... all the "So and so would have been 94 today" threads are kinda silly. Sure, he would have been... if he hadn't DIED. Reminds me of the Antiques Roadshow where they say stuff like "If this were the first run and if it were in perfect condition and signed by the author it would be worth $200,000." Yeah, but it's not the first run and it isn't in perfect condition and it isn't signed by the author so it's worth $1,000. BUT... if it were pure gold and ten feet tall it would be worth a lot more.

Happy birthday, Alvin Lee. Wherever you are. Good guitar player.

Apples and oranges. That doesn't compare.
