I saw one in another post - said "no cap." Anyone have autopsy pics? I'd love to see how the routing/drilling was done if there's no cap. Thanks!

There is an all Hog '57 GT at Gary's Guitars (from memory).

Apparently they sound really good. They are not common but there are a few around that I know of.

Great sounding guitars! Nothing easy about these guitars, especially 12/4 mahogany wide enough, and drilling through the body, but the 1/2 hole would offer some stability.

My 1993 prehistoric custom shop Black Beauty is one solid piece of mahogany, with the a round drill hole for the wiring to the pickups like the previous post..It has the ink stamp serial starting with "3" instead of "7" like the historic reissue.
I will try to post a pic of the control cavity soon.
It has a nice amount of bark and bite to it, even without the maple top.
Nice and balanced tone.

The vintage 54 thru 60 customs are all mahogany with no cap and so were some 57 GTs. The wire channel will identify if it's a cap or not by being squared or round.

Years ago in the mid 90s Tom Wittrock wrote me that he'd seen an original all mahogany 58 or 59 Standard which of course is extremely rare.

All mahogany 2006 R7. Yamano guitar. 1 of 25 I believe. True one piece hog body. I got this from Matte Henderson. Best modern les paul I ever owned.

I used to own a very early 2 pickup '93 Historic BB'57, it was torched when the guitarstore I worked for burned down. It had a two piece mahogany top on a one piece mahogany body.

Love Mother's Finest. Great band that deserves to be remembered! Funk rock, R&B at its best..

I had a 07 Studio VM I regret trading. Not in the league of those mentioned above, but that sweet little hog could grunt with the best of them.
