Our band, which has been playing mainly local bar gigs in and around Omaha, is looking to grow the quality of and expand geographically the venues we are playing.

We are putting in a lot of time working on our material, originals, etc., but the person who has been booking gigs for us has really failed miserably. Most of what we have on our schedule now are either shows we've booked ourselves or venues that we are already relatively well-established at.

So we've been exploring some new options on the booking agent / representation front, and our keyboard player came across this outfit, Afton Booking:

Free artist and band booking, local concert production: MyAfton

Just wondering if anyone else knew of them or has dealt with them before, and what their experience has been. Thanks in advance for any help.

I was with Harmony artist in the 80's and it was like dealing with the devil.

How much do you pay your present booker?

We were paying her a minimum of 10% of the gross gig fee that could get as high as 15% depending on the gross gig fee. In addition, we are giving her another 2% for the first time we got into new venues.

Avoid. Pay to play scam where they do nothing but act as a middle man and reap the profits.
