Looking good Liam, don't piss off the wife to much they hold half the money and all the p***y :D

Just incase you didn't know this already.
In the amp blocks, I think on the (speaker) and (dynamic) buttons is your LF resonance and character controls, they are our friends for dialing in the FRFR speakers. There's some great info in the Tech Notes thread on the Fractal forum too. When you click on the block it opens the controls for the amp, thats where all the control buttons are, they go something like General, GEQ, Pre amp, Power amp, Speaker and Dynamic's, something like that. Once you get in there you can fine tune your highs and lows.

I did a lot of searching on the Fractal forum and got some good info from the guys over there and then Mick from Xitone sent me an email and gave me more info, needless to say my Xitone is sounding killer and I couldn't be happier :)

Thanks for that caljoe - good info. Experimenting, also found that reducing the bottom end boom without changing character too much - there's a high pass filter in the cab block that's pretty effective. Was set at 20Hz in the Princeton preset, which was what was moving the furniture around... ;)

Thanks, good to know! What did you end up set the Hz at?

It is done!

The last piece of the puzzle came in yesterday, the EV-1 pedal :applause:
I'm slowly but surely getting this Axe dialed in, there is a bit of a learning curve (at least for me anyways, kind of a techno dork) been getting a ton of help on the Fractal forum though and things are really starting to come together :thumb:

This might sound kind of crazy to some of you guy's but where I live I can't get regular internet all we have are our hotspots in our phones and that's just marginal (ask Franky). Well I'm just about out of data and I refuse to pay $15 a gig so no uploading or downloading for Joey till Sunday, and very little surfing

I just bought a whole bunch of Ownhammer IRs for my Helix, and while they all sound fantastic, and better than the stock cab and mics in the Helix, there are sooooo many choices. I could spend hours going thru them all. Sometimes too many options is not optimal.

I start with the quick start folders and then go from there. Which ones did you pick up? I have a few. Marshall checkerboard M75, H75, V30.
And the Mesa boogie 4x12's as well.

I got the free Mesa cabs and the Stdio Mix collection. I have only loaded the Mesa's so far. Almost all of them sound better than the stock Helix cabs, but that could be because the IRs are so much louder.

I see that the Studio Mix has "mixes" of different cabs/mics. I'll check them out tomorrow as well as the quick start.

The full Mesa collections are really good, the checkerboard Marshall collections are great, especially for that classic marshall sound!

Sorry Joe, missed that question! Around 85 - 90Hz seems best so far, but might need to come up a bit at gig volume.

Just ordered a 1x12 Xitone speaker. If I really like it I'll get a second for live use :)

I am finding for recording, much higher values are needed, I just made a preset yesterday of a V30 cab and I have it rolled all the way up to about 125Hz. Going to record with it today and see how it sits in the mix now.

What you will find is rolling the bass down and engaging the low pass filter will make big differences.

Roll down bass in settings. What's the low pass filter? Is that in the Axe?

You will do that in the AMP Controls. Bass is straight forward. The low pass cut is a switch below the EQ controls.

On the XITONE you have only one control. It's a treble attenuator. It cuts the high end by 3db. I leave mine off.

And of course Cab Sim Active found in global settings

As usual I find myself saying "thanks Frank!"
Cheers!

For me it's entirely dependent on what I am modeling so far. Just another part of the toolbox to help closely approximate physical amps.

You also have the high pass and low pass filters in the cab block as well. This is where I clean up when recording. It can take off the lows that are interfering with the bass, and take off the highs that are interfering with vocals.
Just a finishing touch to fit it in the mix and give it its own space.

Yes indeed. Total and absolute flexibility...
