Collection of weirdness that is.
A few days ago I got a friend request from a musician on facebook. I accepted it and today I got a message from him. Apparently someone (whose name I do not recognize) recommended he contact me. He is new to the area....has a show booked at a local bar (his first gig ever he says) and wanted to know if I could come and cover an hour for him because he does not know enough songs to do a 3 hour show...... I swear I collect em. It almost has to be a joke. I told him I had a show so he asked if I knew anyone who would do it.... I told him no but to watch the crowd and once it kind of turns over he can replay songs....

Evidently its legit.... talked to the bartender. She said he is playing there and is looking for someone.

Frequent set breaks. He could also try telling stories in between songs, though that can make the natives restless.

I do........but apparently he is wanting a straight split. He wants to a couple hours and whoever else does an hour....split the money (75 each) plus bar tab. I know a guy who is pretty good thats been wanting to play this bar....trying to get em together.

I got the opposite recently lol. I pop in to the local open mic and I'm talking with some people I know and this dude strolls up. He tells us he's got a band and it's so hard to get gigs, etc, etc.
Then he compliments my band, he'd been to a gig we did and "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we did a split gig?". I'm like, "Yeah, that would be great."

Lol..... yeah I am pretty decent at getting gigs.bI have had people ask me to get gigs for their band....solo act....
Ask if they can do shows with me to get in the door..... ask me to talk to bar owners and put in a good word for em.

Funny I was talking to someone about this the other day.....i have went and seen a bunch of local acts.. ONE guy came to one of my shows once..... they act scared to death their presence will make the other band look good.

Let's see, 20% of total for booking fee for finding a musician for him.
Then $100 for playing an hour because you were able to hire you to play.
You should come out pretty good for an hour.
