Thieves stole a shipping pallet containing 10+ AJ sigs, signed and unsigned, during shipping to a major US dealer. One was destined for me and there’s little optimism of recovery. These guitars seem to have been specifically targeted.

Gibson is going to make a statement. It’s a first world problem but I am still disappointed. Gibson is not going to make more to replace so bye bye AJ sig for me.

That sucks. I hope they turn up. I'm guessing the thieves know what they have. If not, they are in for a big surprise when they get caught (assuming the punishment is based on the monetary value of the items stolen). Reverb has them from $13K to $20K.

Damn that’s crazy. I heard of these things happening to iPhone shipments... but on guitars?! Weird. I hope they recover them and you receive it soon!

In a trailer full of pallets, only one was taken.
Happens more often than we realize. It only takes one dishonest shipping/receiving employee to tip someone off.

I was in trucking in the 90s, and I regularly hauled "high value" loads, which essentially means "risk of theft", more than dollar amount. It has to be fenceable products, like TVs or guitars, so people can monetize them.

Whenever I hauled those loads, there was usually a minimum distance before I could stop, making it harder for thieves to case your load...

Pasting the text from Sweetwater to make this more searchable:

We are heartbroken to report that a pallet containing 13 Gibson Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom guitars in Silverburst were stolen at a Travel Center while en route to our campus. These guitars were the dream guitars of 13 avid Gibson and Adam Jones fans so we have decided to publish the serial numbers of the stolen guitars and are appealing to all music-makers to keep an eye out for them on popular resale websites.

Fans should ask any third-party sellers for a serial number before purchasing. Anyone with information regarding the guitars should contact Detective Kenny Polley of the Whiteland Police Department at kpolley@whitelandpd.us or (317) 535-8100.

The theives really dicked up! Dude they stole from the Jehovah's Witness' of guitar stores. Them dudes will pound the phones relentlessy hunting for them "Hey buddy this is Wayne from Sweetwater, just callin to see if youve happened to see our stolen guitars..." These dudes could have found Sadam, Osama, DB Cooper and Jimmy Hoffa if any one of them would have even bought a set of strings from Sweetwater.
