So apparently this is two weeks old news, but it's new to me, of all people!

Former Kiss Guitarist Ace Frehley to Release New Album, 'Space Invader,' in June | Guitar World

I know MLP has a love/hate relationship with Ace, depending on who you talk to, but I have high hopes that this new album will be really great. Anomaly, in my opinion at least, was excellent. I loved pretty much every track, and I couldn't imagine it turning out any better after 20 years of being 'lost in limbo' with a rather lame KISS album in between.

I love this old tune, and Ace always does fun covers that I often end up digging more than the original (see: New York Groove, 2000 Man, Into The Night, Fox On The Run etc.) I think this song suits him to a T, I really look forward to hearing his dorky space puns and classic pentatonic licks. :D

The first unveiled track:

The Joker - Steve Miller Band - YouTube

Sorry, I guess I didn't really explain that all too clearly.

Ace will be doing a cover of 'The Joker' by Steve Miller on his new album. :thumb:

Any guy who writes a song called "Rocket Ride" obviously knows wtf the pompatus of love is, even if we mere mortals are clueless.

Erm...sorry. Premature "submit reply" syndrome there and stuff. It happens to the best of us.

Cannot wait! I've also heard that he's working on a new book, as well. From what I hear, he won't be holding back on this next one. Money grab :D

From what I understand, Stanley's claims of Ace's anti-Semitism have gotten under his skin and he's responding with both barrels.

Whatever...Anomaly f*ckin' rocked. Looking forward to hearing his new music!

Signed,

Ace fan boy and I'm not afraid to admit it! :thumb:

Pompitous or Pompatus - Thought to be made up for the song. Most take it's meaning to be splendor, magnificence, suave pageantry.

Song Meanings at Songfacts
Greil Marcus provided the best explanation we've seen in a 2002 article for Los Angeles Magazine titled "In The Secret Country." The word "Pompatus" does exist in the Oxford English Dictionary, and it means "to act with pomp and splendor." Miller most likely heard the word on a song called "The Letter," which was recorded by the Los Angeles Doo-Wop group The Medallions in 1954. It was written by their lead singer Vernon Green, who was 16 at the time and crippled with polio. The song contained these lyrics:
"Let me whisper sweet words of dismortality, and discuss the pompatus of love. Put it together and what do you have? Matrimony."

I was disappointed with Anomaly. I thought it sounded very... hmm... how can I say this... unremarkable. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Ace fan, and I'll buy the new album, but honestly I'm hoping for more than I got from Anomaly. Just my two cents, of course.

Heh, good thing I'm not one of those fan boys who worships everything Ace shits out as solid gold. :laugh2:

I think his Frehley's Comet stuff is pretty weak compared to Trouble Walkin' and Anomaly, which is an opinion most Ace fans would probably disagree with.

Anomaly to me was a return to his roots, pure rock and roll, no bullshit songs like 'Dolls' or 'Love Me Right'. Which are decent songs in their own right, but nothing I want to hear from Ace.

'Give It To Me Anyway' is one of my all time favourite tracks of his, whoever is playing backing guitar on that song has a really killer tone, and I don't think it's Ace because they're using the neck pickup of a Les Paul... :hmm:

Oh, Trouble Walkin' rocks. Shot Full of Rock, Five Card Stud... I mean c'mon, that's awesome stuff. I even dug his rendition of Do Ya. I suppose I tend to compare his new stuff to his '78 solo album, which I still love. First song I heard from Anomaly was Outer Space, and I have to admit, it's my least favorite song on the album. It sounds like stuff I write... and I consider myself a really lousy songwriter. :p

FWIW... I kinda like Dolls. It get the double entendre, but for me... it makes me think of my nieces playing with their baby dolls. Makes me smile. :)

I love a lot of Ace tracks that didn't seem to make it onto actual albums...

'Cherokee Boogie'
'Take Me To The City'
'Remember Me'
'Words Are Not Enough'

...to name a few. :)

How can you like Take Me To The City and claim to not love everything Ace does. ;)

I thought Remember Me was on Trouble Walkin'?
