I've only gotten to listen to it on my computer speakers at low volume at work, so I can't really have much of an opinion yet. I have the CD now and will blast it out on my way home today. I have a long commute so I'll get to hear the whole thing. I did notice the solos seem really good with a great tone to them. I just couldn't hear much of the actual songs. I love Anomaly so if it is anywhere close to it I'll be happy.

The "bonus" tracks are a bit lame though. Why do I need a radio edit of two songs already on the album? And the Japanese import version has a third radio edit. I saw the version of the CD that comes with the vinyl has a 4th bonus track, extended version of The Joker. I'm curious about that one.

Radio edits...lame. Who cares.

Other than that, it's a very solid effort by Ace.

I loved Anomaly as well, but I think this disc is a step up.

Bummed I didn't get a pick disc, but oh well. Maybe I'll hit up Wal Mart later & give some a shake.

'Past the Milky Way':

'I'm running out of oxygen, but I still got my guitar, cellestial bodies they surround me'

'I don't think I'll make Venus, cos I've travelled very far, could we rendezvous on Mars'

****ing' love that shit, right there ....... lol

Like any other Ace Frehley record, it has its moments of brilliance.. And some of it absolutely blows goats.

It's better than anything KISS has done since Bruce Kulick..

Space Invader sounds pretty good so far. Considering I lean towards Harder Rock and Metal, I think Ace should have put some heavier guitar work into this one.

I can hear a lot more than some of his stuff though to be fair, very welcome ...

Some of the songs I initially didn't like have grown on me. Reckless was one I didn't like the first couple of passes but after listening to the album more this weekend it has grown on me.

Ha, funny how certain songs can grow on you isn't it, gotta say Reckless hasn't got me hooked me yet. 'What Every Girl Wants' has though, getting better with every listen. So for me 'Past the Milky Way' is still a standout track, along with 'Space Invaders', 'I Wanna Hold You', Inside the Vortex also. 'The Joker', well I didn't rate the original being honest, much preferring 'Abracadabra' from SMB. Just wish 'Starship' was more like the previous instrumenta's ie Fractured Mirror.

But all in all, very good effort (he says), and overall much more guitar than previous albums, which is a (very) good thing.

I'm loving all of the tracks except I'm having trouble with Immortal Pleasures and Reckless. I actually like "Starship", granted it's not "Fractured Mirror", but I enjoy it!:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Ridiculous lyrics, bad vocals, mediocre riffs.

What's not to love?

Ridiculous lyrics? For sure, but that's the way it's always been.

Bad vocals? You haven't heard Paul Stanley sing lately, have you?

Mediocre riffs? Everything he plays is in the minor pentatonic scale "box 1". That's the most rock 'n' roll of all the scales, so all is well.

The problem with any album Ace releases at this point is they'll never top his first solo album. Space Invaders is a decent record although I probably like Anomaly a little bit better. The Joker wasn't a bad cover song, but if he was going to do a Steve Miller song it should have been Space Cowboy.

You were correct- what's not to love?

It's just 'Space Invader', no plural. Ace stated in an interview he didn't want to get sued by Taito. :laugh2:
