Judging by a fake teardown in another thread, they are worse than epiphones.

It's Craigslist ads like this that make me wish we could publicly respond to the ad. This is a pos Chinese copy.

I did. I report like 20 a week lol

I report a good few a week myself. I'm beginning to think that Gibson should take note of our details and enter us in prize draws every now and then. God knows how many more fake sites would be out there right now.

At least this he's not trying to deceive anyone.

In a way, he is. I've seen those fake websites and in sure I've seen them selling cheaper than that when new. The man's a cheapskate and he's trying to convince people to buy his POS. and didn't he claim it was better than an epiphone? :laugh2: Better how? Because some tone deaf, near sighted person might mistake it for a Gibson from afar?

It's got Gibson's logo on it. That's a trademark infringement and that's against the law as well as using Ace's name and face without his permission and compensation. It also looks like there's a Gibson Custom Shop logo on the pot cover on the rear of the guitar. It's illegal and a deception from start to finish.

Quoted from the webpage:
" I don't want sell them, to but I need cash."

I don't know which is more laughable, the statement quoted from the seller above or this POS copy of a guitar.

The ad says it's a copy. They probably bought it originally without knowing it's a fake? Would it still be wrong??

One of the worst fakes I've ever seen

BTW this is not a copy it's a "forgery" and a really bad one at that.

You can find much better fakes than this one brand new for less money.

Sadly, that's about how frequently they pop up on CL around here (I'm in MA too).

The ad says it's a copy. They probably bought it originally without knowing it's a fake? Would it still be wrong??

I doubt it....there's at least two guys here in MA that continually put up different "copies" on a regular basis....this fellow (linked in OP) is the worst. All of his listings are worded similarly. He always posts that he has some luthier in Boston set them up, like that will make it more of a bargain, or make it more "real" or something...

There's another guy who puts 'em up, always saying he wants to keep the tuners, or bridge/tailpiece...I'm convinced it's because he doesn't want it in any playable condition when/if you go to look at it.

Thanks for the link...I'll have to start reporting them too.

FWIW; http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/3248557366.html Same guy, different listing...

Wow, bullshit. I hate people trying to make hundreds extra off a $200 guitar tops. It's a epiphone body and parts basicly. Gibson Les Paul Ace Frehley Black Copy

It isn't an Epi - it has that sticker on the back that all counterfeits seem to have. For whatever reason the counterfeiters haven't figured out that real Gibsons do not have that sticker on them.
