Other than a few anomalies, they all started out as Cherry Sunburst guitars. What we see now is how they faded or darkened over the years. Every batch of color mixed all changed differently depending on how it was mixed. Also where they sourced the materials.

In a few cases an LP went over to the ES area and got the darker color pattern.
