So, I just got my first VOS :DDD
Its a 2007 R0 honey burst, and it sound amazing.. so woody, and so much sustain. Totally differend animal than my two standards.... especially my 08 standard... even tho i really like that too, when in the mood for hollowbody sound.

I got the guitar really cheap "luck", cause the neck has been proken.. however, it doesnt affect the way it stays in tune, and least of all the sound.. it seriosuly sings.

It used to be owned by a guitar player from a famous German pop act "Xavier".. so Iv seen in on stage at some crazy huge shows on youtube.

I realized it doesnt have the top hat knobs as the new VOS sold. When did this change?

Also, I think I wanna put in a pair of bareknuckles in there, with a bit more bite. Im thinking Black Dog or something a bit hotter.. Any suggestions?

I play mostly rock/doom stuff.. metal. However I LOVE to spend some quality time playing blues also.

HNGD!! The Bareknuckles sound good as do Wizz pups. NicolasRivera posted a excellent review of these on this forum not so long ago, worth looking at!!

I was going to spend and replace the stock BB's in my R8 but opted to use more EQ to refine the tone to my liking. I would opt for the Wizz pups out of all I heard. I will put some in my next LP!:thumb:

See? a Historic with a broken headstock trumps a USA Les Paul any day!

And Its even cheaper, has more soul and charakter...
Tho i admit I do like a well set up 08 standard. Long tenon is seriously the holy grail in good tone and feel.

Would anyone happen to know when and why they changed to top hat knobs these days?

Vuvuzelas On Speed

I have the original BB1 in the neck and a Seymour Duncan JB Model in the bridge of my R8 which is a nice classic-PAF/hot-rodded-PAF tone combo, at least to my ears.

However, Bare Knuckle pups are very good and I'd love to get some Mississippi Queens with aged nickel covers put in. Mmmm ...

Very Odd Smell

Haha! That's true. I normally leave my VOS out, but when it's been in its case for a few days it acquires a very strange smell. My Studio certainly doesn't smell. Can't work out whether it's the case or the guitar...:hmm:
